Hello. I wrote this after fighting through to another appointment with a new specialist and I got a sudden opening with them and THEY HELPED. A LOT. THEY UNGASLIT the situation and validated a ton of things I'd documented on my own and been bouncing around providers trying to get someone to believe. They did the right test and now we have very significant empirical evidence about something critical.

You know what's funny to me is that qualitative methods ALSO kill people all the time (bad eyewitness interviews, horrible case reports re: foreign policy, arguably more bad qualitative stuff is being used in damaging ways than stats ever is) but we don't really see those as methods so we don't blame the methods like we do with stats.

- making people more aware of stereotypes is usually REQUIRED on the way to intervene on them and reduce them
- but how we make people more aware of stereotypes can actually make them seem more common, and more socially shared, thereby making them stronger

Kick me in the face if you must for this, I'm at peace with it. I took a risk and started talking on TikTok about harm reduction approaches in helping people who are using AI for their health use it better and with more evidence literacy. And the responses I've gotten from patients is amazing and really moving. You should see the private messages. People need help and I'm going to try to help in my areas of expertise.

The number one place I think about this type of reasoning being used was when the US was arguing against public education as a concept. Poverty is an exceptionally strong predictor of outcomes; so people said, why should we waste our time and money letting poor children go to school? This might seem absurd to us now but it was a very serious, very influential argument
That was immediately disproven by the fact that EDUCATION INTERVENES ON POVERTY
