What's the thing with OAuth specs "recommending against password grant"? How do you log in on devices that can't render (modern) web pages then? How do you log in in apps that would like to offer a more polished UX than throwing a web-based permission prompt at you?

What is the threat model here anyway? If a native app uses a web view, it already has complete access to its contents. It can already yoink the password out of there if it really wants to. So what does this protect against, really?

I'm setting up a macOS Tahoe VM to test some things and omg is this thing pushy when you try to make what Apple considers bad choices. "Are you absolutely certain you want to have things your way not ours?"

It's also ridiculously slow to do anything at all, on an M1. I already had to reinstall it once because it got stuck with nothing but the wallpaper on the screen and I got impatient and force-reset it.

Once someone just left their users alone without constantly pestering them about so-called "account security", and their ass fell off.

I didn't do anything in particular that could possibly trigger that notification. It appeared on its own, together with (1) on the settings app icon.

Apple ID phone number check
To always have access to the account, make sure that the phone number is specified correctly.
