Looks like AI has become the next avenue where ppl seem to think it’s cool & normal to verbally abuse others; including but not limited to calling maintainers idiots or other more or less subtle insults for dealing with the slopocalipse in ways that doesn’t entirely align with their belief system.
I don’t know what you THINK the outcome is but I can tell you what the outcome IS: ppl actually dealing w/ this shit feel even worse & we will remember who did it and who boosted it.

This is such an end of an era that fresh Python programmers can’t even fathom.
PyPy used to be our hope! No major Python conference that didn’t suggest that they’re gonna fix the GIL and make time go backwards. And yeah, it’s really fast! I suspect the money-backed focus on performance in CPython combined with the compat paper cuts PyPy always came with has sealed its fate. I‘ve watched its decline over the years so I’m not surprised, but damn.

the biggest tragedy for me is that i’ve spent A LOT of time and energy to encourage contributions to my projects and now i have to spend TBD energy on gate-keeping

Why did nobody tell me that in #Python 3.11, datetime.fromisoformat() can parse arbitrary ISO timestamps!? #gameChanger
(Before it could only parse the output from datetime.isoformat(); e.g. choking on timestamps ending with a Z for UTC.)
