We are happy to share a set of five recommendations for academic publishers and journal editors aimed at reducing barriers to #OpenAccess publishing for researchers with weak institutional ties.

The recommendations are based on a two-year study combining qualitative and quantitative methods.

We’re happy to share that we successfully wrapped up the IDAHO project at #OAT25 with a presentation of the final findings from our mixed-method study!

We found that researchers with weak institutional ties do experience affiliation-specific #barriers. To address this, we derive five recommendations for academic publishers to mitigate these obstacles and make #OA publishing more diverse and equitable.

📌 Our literature review paper has just been published!

It presents a broad and comprehensive overview of 82 barriers & challenges faced by authors seeking to publish #OA.

Our analysis shows that addressing obstacles related to OA provision alone will not be sufficient to ensure #equitable, #diverse, and #fair publishing opportunities. It is essential to recognize and engage with the broader systemic issues that shape #ScholarlyCommunication
