Yesterday 130 curious art lovers attended the opening of Wolfgang Nestler's "Werdeformen" at IKOB museum in Eupen. It was a great experience seeing his work which sometimes date back to the 70s looking contemporary and still giving proof to the facto, that art doens't need an academic title to be understood.

Yesterday members and friends of IKOB Museum visited the Eupen City Museum and saw a great exhibition about women who faught the nazis. As usual those histories are rarely told and therefore this exhibition is not only important to rewrite history but also for the future. There is place to resist. There is hope. And the good will always win! This is what the exhibition told us ... Thanks to Catherine Weishaupt for their insights and for doing this exhibition .

We just published a new text in our museums blog. The title is "Workflowversprechen und Beharrungsagonie – Der lange Weg zur digitalen Selbstbestimmung im Museum". Unfortunatelly it's in german, but a translating machine might do the magic?! It is a text about digital souvereignty, digital self-defence and the duty of cultural institutions to be more aware about the surveillance industry than others.

Yesterday our director gave the opening speech at "Raum für Kunst" in Aachen/ Germany. Tanja Mosblech and Andrea Rademacher-Mennicken are a perfect example for two artist joining forces, leaving their egos behind while cooperating in a very honest and productive way. An exhibition worth visiting!

Mit großer Trauer haben wir vom Tod von Henrike Naumann erfahren und konnten es zunächst nicht fassen. Henrike war eine außergewöhnliche Künstlerin. 2023 zeigte sie im IKOB ihre Ausstellung „Westalgie“. Henrike lud damals Merle Vorwald und Tom Bogaert ein, begleitend eigene Arbeiten zu zeigen. Ein schönes Beispiel für ihre kollaborative Haltung, ihr Interesse an Austausch und an Gemeinschaft. Unsere Gedanken sind bei ihrer Familie, ihren Freund:innen und allen, die mit ihr gearbeitet haben.

Kunstforum International has just released its latest themed issue. Titled ‘Draw! From Line to Art,’ it aligns almost perfectly with the theme of our current exhibition. Ronny Delrue, the Belgian painter and sculptor, is a compulsive draftsman, and we’re using his drawings to highlight the political and social dimensions of drawing.

Good initiative by the Irish government. A kind of basic income for artists and creatives. €1,300 per month eases existential fears and worries, sending a strong signal to those whose importance for a functioning democratic society is often emphasized but rarely rewarded.

Today we visited "Die Queere Moderne" at K20 in Düsseldorf. The exhibition is great - no doubt about that. We highly recommend going there and to bring some time. The curators offer many books and films, the walltexts are quite informative too

Yesterday, IKOB visited the Düsseldorf Art Academy’s much-discussed “Rundgang,” the annual student exhibition. Our sense of slight irritation and underwhelm was perfectly captured by Jennifer Braun, also known as “The Gen Z Art Critic.” We highly recommend reading her brilliant piece of art criticism.

Leonie Schöler mentions in her bestselling book "Beklaute Frauen" our humble Museum in the same sentence with Tate Modern, because we have publicly declared our intention to develop our collection toward a 50/50 balance of male and female artists - same like Tate Modern. So far, we are at a 40% to 60% ratio, still in favor of male artists.
