The Equipment Mistakes Women Golfers Are Pushed Into

Ladies, we need to have a conversation about something that has been bothering me for years. The golf industry has done women a disservice when it comes to equipment, and it is time we stopped falling for outdated advice and marketing tactics that do not serve our games.

Here is the truth: many of us are playing with the wrong equipment, not because we chose poorly, but because we were guided in the wrong direction from the start.

The "Women's Clubs" Trap

Walk into any golf shop and you will likely be steered toward the women's section, where everything is shorter, lighter, and often painted in pink or purple. While some women absolutely need these specifications, many do not. The assumption that all women need the same equipment based solely on gender is simply wrong. 🙅‍♀️

Your height, swing speed, and strength should determine your equipment, not your gender. A tall woman with a faster swing speed might be better served by men's or standard clubs. A petite man might benefit from women's specifications. It is about the individual, not the category.

The Flex Fiasco

One of the biggest mistakes I see? Women being automatically fitted with ladies flex shafts when they actually need something firmer. If your swing speed is above 70 mph with your driver, you might benefit from a senior or even regular flex shaft. Playing with too much flex can cause inconsistent ball flight and loss of control.

Get fitted properly. Do not let anyone assume what you need.

The Loft Lie

Another common mistake is being pushed toward maximum loft on every club. Yes, higher loft can help get the ball airborne, but too much loft combined with a decent swing speed can actually hurt your distance and create ballooning shots. 🎈

Work with a fitter who takes the time to analyze your launch conditions rather than one who hands you the highest lofted option without asking questions.

Skipping the Fitting Altogether

Perhaps the biggest mistake of all is not getting fitted in the first place. Many women feel intimidated walking into a fitting session or assume fittings are only for serious players. Wrong! A proper fitting can transform your game at any level.

You deserve equipment that works for YOUR swing. Not equipment designed for some generic idea of what a woman golfer should be.

I know working with a professional fitter may feel beyond your skill set - but you are investing in clubs and your game - you may as well do it right and they aren't as judgmental about your swing as you think they will be.

The Bottom Line

Stop accepting equipment recommendations based on assumptions. Ask questions. Demand data. Get fitted by someone who sees you as an individual golfer, not just a demographic checkbox. ⛳

Your game will thank you for it.

Have you ever been pushed toward equipment that did not fit your game just because of your gender? Share your fitting horror stories below! 👇

Nelly Korda Just Got Even Closer to LPGA Hall of Fame Glory 🏆

Okay so like can we PLEASE talk about Nelly Korda right now because this woman is absolutely CRUSHING IT on the LPGA Tour and I am HERE for every single second of it! 🏆

After her latest victory, Nelly is now sitting just SEVEN POINTS away from the LPGA Hall of Fame and honestly that is just insane when you think about it. Seven points! That is basically nothing for someone who wins tournaments the way she does!

I do not know about you but watching her play is like watching someone who was literally born to swing a golf club. The way she approaches every shot, the confidence, the mental strength... it is all just - perfection! 👏

And let us be real here for a second. The Hall of Fame is not something that just happens to people. You have to EARN that spot through years of consistent excellence and major victories and being an absolute force on the tour. Nelly has done all of that and she is not even close to being done yet!

Seven points might sound like a lot to some people but for Nelly? That is probably like two more wins away. Maybe three. Either way she is going to get there and when she does we all need to celebrate because we are watching history happen in real time! 🙌

Cannot wait to see what she does next because you know she is coming for that Hall of Fame spot and nothing is going to stop her! I heart this so hard for women's golf! ❤️

Who else is ready to watch this queen make history? 👑

Congratulations to all the recipients! You have earned this recognition, and the golf world is better because of each of you! 👏

Why Women Quit Golf Faster Than Men 🏌️‍♀️

Let us be honest with ourselves for a moment. The golf industry has a women problem, and it is not because women do not enjoy the game. It is because the game has not been designed with us in mind.

The Intimidation Factor Is Real

Walk into most pro shops and you will immediately feel it. The atmosphere was built for men, by men. Women often report feeling unwelcome, overlooked, or patronized when they try to learn the game. This is not just a feeling. It is a systemic issue that drives women away before they even get a chance to fall in love with golf. 😤

Equipment That Does Not Fit

Here is something that drives me absolutely crazy. For years, women have been handed "shrink it and pink it" equipment as if our bodies are just smaller versions of men. Spoiler alert: they are not. Women have different swing mechanics, different strength distributions, and different needs. When the equipment does not work for us, we assume we are the problem. We are not.

Time Is Not a Luxury We Have

Let us talk about the elephant in the room. Women still carry a disproportionate share of household and caregiving responsibilities. A five-hour round of golf? That is a luxury many women simply cannot afford. The industry needs to embrace alternative formats, shorter courses, and family-friendly options if it wants to keep women engaged. ⏰

The Social Barrier

Golf is often learned through social connections. Men bring their sons, their buddies, their colleagues. Women? We are often left to figure it out on our own. Without a built-in support system, many women feel isolated on the course and eventually walk away.

What Needs to Change

The golf industry must stop treating women as an afterthought. We need:

  • Welcoming, inclusive environments at every club
  • Properly designed equipment for women golfers
  • Flexible playing formats that respect our time
  • Women-focused instruction and community building
  • More female representation in golf leadership 💪

Women do not quit golf because we cannot play. We quit because the game makes it too hard to stay. It is time for that to change.

See you on the course, ladies. Let us make some noise. 🎀⛳

What is the biggest barrier that has made you consider walking away from golf? Let us hear it, ladies! 💪🎀

Two Marilynns, One LPGA Legacy: The Story of MJ Smith 🏌️‍♀️

Well hello there, golf lovers! 🏌️‍♀️

Let me tell you about one of the most delightful coincidences in LPGA history. When it comes to the stories that make our tour so special, the tale of MJ Smith is one that will make you smile.

You see, MJ Smith shares her name with none other than LPGA Founder Marilynn Smith. How is that for a twist of fate? The universe clearly has a sense of humor and a love for our beautiful game.

MJ has been a beloved figure in our LPGA family for years. She has built relationships with some of the most incredible women in golf history. From standing alongside LPGA Founder Betty Jameson with Lauren Ford, Judy Gibson, and Penny Pulz, to sharing moments with Pat Meyers and her namesake Marilynn Smith herself, MJ has been there through it all.

She has also been spotted with rising stars like Lydia Ko back in 2017, proving that her passion for the game spans generations. 💚

MJ continues to make her mark on the tour. In 2025, she presented the trophy at her very own tournament, a moment that surely filled her heart with pride.

Her connections with industry leaders show just how respected she is within our golf community. MJ Smith is proof that sometimes the best stories in sports are not just about the scores on the leaderboard, but about the people who dedicate their lives to growing the game we all love. ⛳

Have you ever met someone in your field who shares your name and inspired you to forge your own unique legacy? 💫

Honoring the Trailblazers and Future Champions of Women's Golf 🏌️‍♀️

Hey ShePars fam! 🌟

Let us talk about something that is SO important to me and should be important to all of us: National Girls and Women in Sports Day!

This amazing day happens every year on the first Wednesday of February, and it is all about celebrating female athletes and everything we have accomplished. It is about recognizing how sports empower us as women and pushing for equality in athletics. We have come so far since Title IX, but there is still work to do to make sure every girl has access to sports! 💪

The Women's Sports Foundation organizes this special day, and so many incredible organizations come together to support girls in sports at every level, from the little ones just starting out to us pros on Tour!

On this day, I always think about our LPGA Founders. Those trailblazing women made it possible for all of us to live our dreams on the golf course. They paved the way, and now it is our turn to do the same for the next generation of girls picking up a club for the first time. 🏌️‍♀️

Today and every day, let us celebrate how far we have come and keep lifting each other up. Support a young female athlete in your life. Cheer for women in sports. Be the encouragement someone needs!

Here is to all the amazing girls and women making their mark in sports! 💚

Who is a female athlete that has inspired your love for sports or golf? Share her story below! 👇

Nelly Korda Kicks Off 2026 With Her 16th LPGA Tour Win 🏆

Nelly Korda is BACK and she is kicking off 2025 in style! 🏆✨

The world number two just snagged her 16th career LPGA Tour victory at the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions in Orlando, Florida, and honestly, we could not be more thrilled for her!

Let us talk about that third round though, because WOW. Korda absolutely went off with an 8-under 64 that included seven birdies, just one bogey, AND a hole-out eagle on the par-4 third hole. Yes, you read that right. A HOLE-OUT EAGLE. 🦅

Due to some gnarly weather conditions that made play basically impossible, the tournament was shortened to 54 holes. When everything was said and done, Korda stood at 13-under, winning by three strokes over the always-talented Amy Yang.

"It feels amazing," Korda said after her win. "I am just super proud of Jason and I yesterday for how we fought those conditions. For my team, I would not be here without them. We are all pieces of a puzzle. I would not be who I am without them. Just so grateful."

This victory is extra special because Korda has been SO close at this event before, with five top-five finishes in seven previous starts, but had never sealed the deal until now. Plus, she was playing in front of her family, friends, and fiancé for the first time! 💕

Fun fact: This is actually Korda's second win at Lake Nona Golf and Country Club. She also won the 2021 Gainbridge LPGA at this same venue. Clearly, this course just vibes with her game!

Amy Yang finished in solo second at 10-under, which is a huge confidence boost after a tough 2025 season. "I think I just proved to myself that I prepared well in the offseason," Yang shared. We love to see the comeback energy! 💪

Canadian star Brooke Henderson came in solo third at 7-under in her last tournament with sister Brittany on the bag for a while. Olympic gold medalist Lydia Ko, a Lake Nona member and past champion, finished right behind her.

The rookie class showed up too! Youmin Hwang and 2025 AIG Women's Open champion Charley Hull tied for fifth at 5-under, while world number one Jeeno Thitikul and England's Lottie Woad shared seventh place at 4-under.

Defending champion A Lim Kim tied for ninth at 3-under, and in the celebrity division, former tennis pro Mardy Fish claimed his third Tournament of Champions title with 126 points in the modified Stableford competition. 🎾➡️⛳

What a way to start the 2026 LPGA Tour season! Nelly Korda is officially in championship form and we are absolutely here for it. Let's go, Nelly! 🙌

What do you think Nelly Korda will accomplish during the 2026 LPGA Tour season? 🌟

Pack Like a Pro: Your Ultimate Girls Golf Getaway Checklist ⛳👯‍♀️

There is nothing quite like a girls golf trip to recharge your soul, strengthen friendships, and improve your game all at once. But let us be honest, packing for a golf getaway can feel overwhelming when you are trying to balance style, practicality, and those pesky airline baggage limits. Do not worry, I have got you covered with the ultimate checklist to ensure you arrive prepared and picture-perfect for every tee time and happy hour.

Golf Essentials 🏌️‍♀️

First things first, let us talk about what you absolutely cannot forget. Your golf clubs are obviously essential, but consider whether you want to ship them ahead or bring them with you. A quality travel bag is worth the investment if you are flying frequently for golf.

  • Golf clubs and travel bag
  • Golf balls (pack more than you think you will need)
  • Tees, ball markers, and divot repair tools
  • Golf gloves (bring at least two)
  • Rangefinder or GPS device
  • Sunscreen and lip balm with SPF
Apparel That Works Hard and Looks Great 👗

The key to packing smart is choosing versatile pieces that mix and match effortlessly. Stick to a cohesive color palette so everything coordinates.

  • Golf polos or sleeveless tops (one per round plus one extra)
  • Golf skorts or shorts in neutral colors
  • Comfortable golf shoes that are already broken in
  • A lightweight rain jacket or windbreaker
  • A stylish hat or visor for sun protection
  • Sunglasses with good UV protection
After the Round Essentials 🍷

Your girls trip is not just about golf. You will want to look fabulous for those 19th hole celebrations and dinner reservations.

  • A cute sundress or two that transition from day to night
  • Comfortable sandals or wedges
  • A light cardigan for air-conditioned restaurants
  • Minimal jewelry that adds sparkle without fuss
Do Not Forget These Game Changers 💡

These items often get overlooked but can make or break your trip:

  • Portable phone charger
  • Pain relievers and blister bandages
  • Hair ties and headbands
  • A small cooler bag for snacks and drinks on the course
  • Camera or phone tripod for group photos
Pro Packing Tips ✨

Roll your golf clothes instead of folding to save space and reduce wrinkles. Use packing cubes to keep everything organized. And here is my favorite trick: wear your bulkiest items on the plane to save precious suitcase real estate.

Remember, the best girls golf trips are the ones where you feel confident, comfortable, and ready for anything. Whether you are playing 18 holes or just nine, dining at the clubhouse or exploring local restaurants, having the right items packed means more time enjoying the experience and less time stressing about what you forgot.

Now get packing, gather your crew, and go make some memories on the course! 💚

What is the one item you never leave behind on a girls golf getaway? Share your must have in the comments below! ⬇️

Mallet Putters Are Taking Over - Is It Time to Make the Switch? 🏌️‍♀️

Okay besties, let us talk about something that just happened at the AIG Women's Open! 🏌️‍♀️ Nelly Korda showed up with a brand new mallet putter and honestly, I am here for it!

So here is the tea: Nelly and Scottie Scheffler are basically gear twins with their TaylorMade Qi10 drivers, and now our girl is taking notes from the World No. 1 on the greens too. She switched to a TaylorMade Spider Tour X mallet and opened with back-to-back 68s to grab the lead through 36 holes before finishing third. Not too shabby! ⛳

Real talk though, this is not some random switch. This trend has been building for like 20 years. Back in the day, people used to side-eye mallet users the same way they looked at anchored putters. The vibe was basically "oh, you cannot putt so you need help." But times have seriously changed!

The Ping Anser and Scotty Cameron blades are still iconic and beloved, but mallets have absolutely entered the chat in a major way. Want proof? Look at the top five in the Official World Golf Ranking. Four of them rock mallets: Scottie Scheffler at No. 1, Xander Schauffele at No. 2, Rory McIlroy at No. 3, and Wyndham Clark at No. 5. Only Ludvig Aberg at No. 4 is holding it down for the blade squad. And get this: all four mallet users are positive in strokes gained putting, with Xander and Wyndham ranking in the top 15 on tour! 📊

When Scottie made his switch at the FedEx Cup Playoffs last year, he was already ranked No. 1 in the world but was struggling on the greens. He was ranked 135th in strokes gained putting at minus 0.192. Yikes!

"I have always liked the visual of that Spider putter, but I really just did not like the feel," Scottie explained. "I have always struggled with putters that have a lot of weight in the back side, and this one is a bit different than a lot of the Spiders that they have made. The weight is more in the front so it has the feel of a blade putter that I like, but it also has a lot of that visual on the top where it is easier for me to line up. The margins in this game are so close, so it is something that I feel really comfortable with where the balance point is on this putter."

Why do players switch putters? There are tons of reasons! Some need a mental reset to break out of a funk. Some prefer certain putters on specific grass types. For Nelly, TaylorMade says she loved the look and the shorter sight line. 👀

Now for all my everyday golfers out there who are struggling on the greens: a mallet might be worth considering! They offer stability, better alignment features, and here is the thing that surprised me too: they are not just for straight-back-straight-through strokes anymore! Yes, some of them look like little battleships, but these bad boys help promote a smooth, fluid stroke! 🚢

The late Dick Helmstetter, former R&D chief at Callaway, said it best when the Odyssey 2-Ball came out: "If it helps you get it in the hole, the ugliness goes away in a heck of a hurry. You do not get paid for looking cool out there."

I personally switched to a mallet this year as well. Am I sinking putts like the pros now? No. Of course not. But I am aligning my putts a lot better and getting much closer the the hole in fewer strokes. Score! My advice is go out and get your hands on a few. It literally felt like angels were singing when I found my new putter.

Honestly? Facts! 💯 If it drops more putts, who cares what it looks like?

Have you made the switch to a mallet putter or are you still loyal to your blade? Drop your putting preferences below! 👇

Michelle Wie West Shares 3 Must Check Points When Using a Putting Mirror

Hey golf babes! 👋 Let me break down what Michelle Wie West shared about using a putting mirror because this is seriously good stuff!

So our girl Michelle may be retired from the LPGA Tour, but she is still out there grinding on her game. She recently dropped some putting drill content on her Instagram story, and one drill featured a putting mirror. You have probably seen these training aids around, and maybe you even own one. But are you actually using it the right way? 🤔

Michelle says when she is working with her PuttOut mirror, she is checking for three key things:

1. Square Eyeline 👀

When you set up over the ball with the mirror underneath, you can literally see how your eyes are positioned. If your head is tilted, your eyes will not be lined up with the target line. And guess what? That is going to mess with your ability to read putts correctly!

2. Eyeline Just Inside the Ball 🎯

The mirror also shows you where your eyes are relative to the ball position. You might notice your eyes are way out over the ball or beyond it. Sean Foley has talked about how this can totally change your perception of the line. If you are too far over it, you will think the cup is more to the left than it actually is. Michelle keeps her eyes slightly inside the ball for the most accurate view, and a lot of pros do the same thing!

3. Head Staying Still Throughout the Stroke 🙆‍♀️

Watch your reflection as you make your putting stroke. Is your head moving? Top teacher Joe Plecker says it is super common for amateurs to pick their head up too early. When you pull your head up, you come out of your posture and that opens up the putter face. Not what we want!

So next time you grab that putting mirror, keep these three keys in mind and you will have a way more focused and productive practice session! 💪⛳

Do you use a putting mirror in your practice routine? What is your favorite putting drill? 💬⬇️

Ladies, Ready to Level Up Your Golf Game? Start With These Two Club Upgrades 🏌️‍♀️

Hey golf queens! 👑 The number of women hitting the links has absolutely skyrocketed (I'm so jazzed about this!), and so has the availability of women's golf sets. But here is the thing: just because a set is labeled "for women" does not mean it is actually right for YOUR game. The golf pros I train with recommend that every golfer get properly fit for clubs to ensure you are playing with equipment that helps you perform your best.

If you are currently swinging a packaged set or inherited some hand-me-down clubs and you are ready to invest in gear that actually fits you, my pros have some solid advice! 💪

Take a Look at Your Wedges First

Every packaged set is different, explains Keith Handler, a fitter at Aulenti Studio in Connecticut. "Some players will come in with only a pitching wedge. They need that stopping power, and they will not get that with a pitching wedge. They will have more control around the greens if they have a sand wedge," Handler says.

And even if your set does include a sand wedge, you might want to get fit for a new one. This is currently the ONLY club I use around the greens so get this one nailed for sure! 🙌

"Sometimes packaged sets have two wedges, but the sand wedge is more of an iron head than a true wedge head," Handler explains. "It has the loft, but it is still clunky, hard to get out of the sand, harder to control. That can make a big difference."

When you head in for a fitting, your fitter will have you hitting wedges in the game improvement and super game improvement categories. These include options like the Cleveland CBZ, Callaway CB12, Ping BunkR, and the One wedge from Performance Golf.

Get Yourself a 5-Hybrid 🏌️‍♀️

If there is one club Handler sees women golfers benefit from having in their bag, it is the 5-hybrid. "Getting from the fairway to the green, the 5-hybrid is the go-to club for a lot of women I work with," Handler shares. "It is easier to hit off of side hill lies and out of the rough. It is higher launching, and easier to hit than some woods and 4-hybrids."

If the set you are using now does not include a 5-hybrid, Handler suggests getting fit for one. And if you do have a 5-hybrid, it is still worth getting fit for a new one. The only way to know you are getting the best launch and distance is to get in the fitting bay!

Why Bachelorette Parties Are Ditching the Club for the Course⛳💍

Listen up, ladies. The days of matching sashes, crowded nightclubs, and questionable decisions at 2 AM are not over, but they are certainly getting some competition. Enter the golf bachelorette party, and honestly, I am here for it.

So how did we get here? How did the sport of our dads and their dads suddenly become the backdrop for celebrating a bride-to-be? Let me break it down for you.

The Rise of the "Chill" Bachelorette

Not every bride wants to spend her last hurrah nursing a hangover in a hotel room. Some women actually want to remember their celebration. Wild concept, I know. The golf bachelorette offers something different: fresh air, friendly competition, cute outfits, and yes, still plenty of opportunities for champagne. It is giving wellness meets celebration, and the girlies are eating it up.

Social Media Made It Cool

Let us be real. Instagram and TikTok have completely transformed what we consider a "good time." Suddenly, a group of women in coordinating golf skirts, posing with their clubs on a pristine green, is content gold. The aesthetic is immaculate. The vibes are unmatched. And the photo opportunities? Chef's kiss. 📸

Golf Courses Caught On

The golf industry is not stupid. They saw the bachelorette brigade coming and they rolled out the welcome mat. Many courses now offer packages specifically designed for groups of women celebrating. Think reserved tee times, golf cart decorations, on-course beverage service, and even lessons for beginners. They made it easy, and we made it a movement.

It Is Actually Fun

Here is the thing nobody tells you: golf is genuinely enjoyable. Even if you have never held a club in your life, there is something satisfying about being outside, laughing with your best friends, and attempting to hit a tiny ball into a tiny hole. The pressure is low. The drinks are flowing. And if you are terrible at it, that just makes for better content anyway.

The Outfit Game Is Strong

We cannot talk about golf bachelorette parties without talking about the fashion moment. Matching skorts, personalized visors, "Bride" and "Babe" embroidered polos. The outfit coordination alone is worth the trip. Golf fashion has never been more fun, and honestly, looking good while doing something active is a vibe we should all embrace. 👗🏌️‍♀️

It Brings Everyone Together

Unlike a wild night out where half the group disappears and the other half ends up crying in a bathroom, a golf day keeps everyone in one place. You are all together, riding in carts, cheering each other on, and creating memories that do not require piecing together from blurry photos the next morning. It is inclusive, it is bonding, and it is the kind of experience that actually strengthens friendships.

The Bottom Line

Golf bachelorette parties are not just a trend. They are a shift in how women are choosing to celebrate. We want experiences that feel elevated but accessible. We want to look cute while doing something active. We want to toast our besties without wrecking our bodies for a week. And honestly? We deserve it. 🥂

So if you are planning a bachelorette and someone suggests hitting the links, do not knock it until you try it. You might just find yourself falling in love with the game before your girl walks down the aisle.

See you on the course, babes.
