I know it's a minor injustice in the grand scheme of things, but I do wish Björk's track "There's More To Life Than This" had a 7" single release, even as a B-side.
(I'm well aware there was a "non-toilet mix" on the CD of Venus As A Boy, but I wanted to play it at me discos, dammit!)

Talking to my hairdresser this morning, comparing notes on stuff which happened over the past 10 years, including the deaths of a couple of mutual friends.
Our chat frequently returned to a message that sometimes, no matter how hard you try, you can do absolutely nothing about an acquaintance spiralling into self-destruction (through alcohol, drugs or what). It's horrid.
Sometimes all we can do is sit by and wait to pick up the pieces, if there are any left to pick up 😞

@nav@mstdn.social It's a Hanmatek DOS1102S, which is supported by Labview so maybe will talk to Sigrok too? It would certainly be useful to log the test disc I use at the same time, which has various sine waves on L/R/both.

@nav@mstdn.social Tho tbh, I can use a strobe middle and a bog standard 50Hz light source to do it all and see how much it's wavering. This particular project is all about narrowing down where in the whole chain of things it falls back, from the PSU output to the regulators, the motor feedback circuit, all the VRs and pots in the between, and finally the motor and mechanicals.

Console tested using a load of records I needed to file. It's pretty much back to its original behaviour, but I'm sorta nervous it's the right-hand pot which is grubby.
Need to work out how I can graph resistance over time to see how much the pot drifts (maybe on the scope), given they're vintage ones which aren't available any more in that length/form factor and there's no direct replacement nowadays.

"Interesting" gig - first one where something major went wrong, but wasn't any of the new kit.
Thankful for the spare console ("The Purple Meanie") which although not quite ready for prime time did a sterling job.
Need to get The Slut back in the workshop on Monday and find out why the right TT is wavering so much - suspect a recurrence of the mechanical issue I fixed a while back (motor slightly out of alignment).
A learning process, but at least the DR process worked well and is resilient.

Back when I was a gig photographer, Skunk Anansie were by far the most difficult band I was assigned to photograph live, because they favoured red lighting and Skin moved so damn *fast*. I suspect photographing F1 in the dark would have been easier.

Tat run to Doncaster this afternoon, rescuing old kit from a mobile disco. A few wins out of it - Bulgin connectors, some interesting controllers, a huuuuge flightcase containing some home-made screens - but the most interesting thing was UV-sensitive perspex lightning bolts, which will work nicely with some UV strip behind them.

Eldest out doing writing things at the local club, so took my wife out for dinner to a local Italian restaurant which has been in Wakefield for decades and never disappoints. Home now with a hotchoc and cats who are annoyed we're home later than usual.

Finally got round to finishing the cabochon lighting fixtures, seen in this video hooked up to a slightly dicky* lighting controller from the mid 80s.
These will be on either side of the console, attached to the gantry poles, making their first appearance at Saturday's gig.

Batch-cooked a pile of mac+cheese with the cheeseboard leftovers from the weekend, snagged and painted the new cabochon light boxes, 3d fabbed end caps for it, cleaned the bathroom ceiling, and done a pile of dayjob.
Still feeling quite tired and unproductive though :( Low dopamine and all that, bit rubbish really.
