Current procrastination project I'm thinking about: making a list of all the bushes in my garden that I could propagate through cuttings, and growing an entire hedge from those in our woodland, because the current one is all tall conifers and more of them seem to break at every storm.

Whenever someone sends me an AI-generated video, I feel disturbed by the content without being able to put my finger on why. There’s such a gap of reality, even in the nice looking ones where people have the correct amount of limbs.
I would ten thousand times rather look at shitty art made by someone who picked up a pencil for the first time in their lives yesterday.

Welcome to the year of using up all the expired seeds:
I have a small hoarder-collector problem with buying cute heirloom seeds every year and never using them all properly. Over time, this has led to a large collection of expired seeds. So this year, I am not buying any new ones, and instead will plant what I have, to see what comes up.
So far I planted tomatoes (3 types including one expired in 2019), squash (exp 2021), basil (exp 2020) and green beans (exp 2019). Wish me (them) luck!

@madsenandersc all the more reason to incentivize those who have other options to take them. We don’t have 40 years of oil right now. We have about two weeks until the last shipment arrives in Europe. Then there isn’t anything new coming in until somehow the straight of Hormuz opens, and it’s anyone’s guess when that will happen.

Oil supply is going to dry up very soon, no matter how much or how little money people have. All incentives should be aimed at extending the supply we have left. That includes giving incentives to people who DO have the option not to drive to do so. It also includes VERY QUICKLY scaling up the availability of public transport.
But I guess it’s a lot easier to read “fuck the poor” in what I wrote than finding nuance.

European governments are dancing around the fact that they need to start rationing petrol RIGHT NOW. It’s not a popular thing to say at all, and they’re all hoping someone else says it first.
But even without saying “rationing” you can encourage different behaviours right now. They’re doing the OPPOSITE.

- free public transport in cities;
- remote VAT on bikes and e-bikes;
- buying back petrol cars if someone switches it for an EV;
- installing EV charging points in gas stations.
Energy subsidies that don’t make sense:
- lowering taxes on petrol and diesel to ease the shock.

Absolute lack of self awareness on a LinkedIn post (but I repeat myself):
Start-up founder writes about the amazing life in Mauritius, the paradise, the cheap life, the low taxes. But his daughter child gets Type1 Diabetes. And low and behold - the healthcare system is very bad. So they move back to their European home country. The health care is finally decent. But the taxes are so high!!! Guvment is oppressing us, what are they doing with our money?

Les voitures ne s’arrêtent pas pour les enfants. Quand une d’entre elles s’est arrêtée, le bus derrière a klaxonné, à environ 1 mètre à côté de mon enfant.
À part les aires de jeux, il n’y a NULLE PART dans la ville où un enfant qui apprend à marcher peut circuler en sécurité.

bah aujourd’hui j’ai circulé avec mon hobbit en poussette dans une petite ville.
Expérience :
Un passage piéton sur deux n’a pas de trottoir abaissé, donc complètement inaccessible.
Des jolies aires de jeux, mais le sentier pour y arriver est boueux.
La grande rue autour de laquelle la ville est organisée a des trottoirs d’à peine 1 mètre de large. Ils sont inégaux - parce pour faire un accès aux voitures, là on peut baisser le niveau.
