I’m a frequent user of that feature - especially for cases when the first thing I see from a channel is a clickbait thumbnail with a “shocked” face on it. I understand that it’s a working tactic for some channels, but unless I know the channel and can assume the video would be good despite the clickbait, I’m not going for it. It’s a trend that needs to die.

Regardless of the OS, if you’re using the computer for anything productive, the application software, not the OS, will eat the majority of the RAM anyway. If you’re looking at the minimum requirements, chances are you’re not looking to do anything besides browsing the web with 5 tabs open. It sucks though, I agree - software should get more efficient over time, just like hardware does. Out of curiosity, do we have anything more specific, i.e. how they tested that, what apps were running and so on? Or maybe they now deem that more things should be running?

The point of trackpads (and even more so of trackpoints) is that they're faster to get to from typing position - you move your hand back a bit (or even just the index finger) instead of moving across the whole keyboard. That's not something that would go high on the checklist when gaming - it's usually one hand planted on WASD, the other on the mouse and hardly any going back and forth.

It's still not too late to learn to search efficiently. It's true that SEO has gotten to shit and that there are so many filler pages that say nothing, but still, most of the time when I search, I get an answer either right from the headline or within the first one or two pages that I click on.

Part of the problem IMO is that some people have started using AI chatbots in lieu of search engines - even for simple questions that are a search away. There needs to be 1) some regulation regarding that and 2) some optimisation of the AI chatbots themselves to take shortcuts for readily available answers, because the energy waste seems ridiculous.

No email would be fine for most people, but then there would be the small number of folks who will cry all hell when they forget their passwords and/or secret questions and can't get in...
