But it is definitely not worth too much more work 🙂

I'd like to see laws that absolutely forbid ex-politicians (and public servants above a certain level of seniority generally) working in the private sector in *any capacity at all, including overseas* for a minimum of five years after leaving office, with criminal penalties if they are found to have done so. Quite happy for them to be paid by the taxpayer to do nothing. But they *must not* be allowed to carry their knowledge and influence into the private sector.
Given that these proposals would constrain those who would have to make the laws, I don't see either happening any time soon.

"You start out in your local council chamber
You fight and dream until you reach your prime
And if you should succeed
By the time you get to lead
You're pretty much exhausted from the climb.
You only get a moment in the penthouse,
Before you find you're standing on the sill
And if you're sunk in ham and gammon
When it turns from feast to famine
Then you're lucky if you've had your fill."
The same song has this perfect description of the Australian electorate:
"Give us back our comfy bloody country
Take us back to simple days of yore
Nothing alien or scary
Ladeda or airy-fairy
Just put it back the way it was before."

Learning "hullo", "goodbye", "thank you", "excuse me" and "I'm sorry" are about the best investments in a holiday or business trip that you can make, I reckon.

US military members, from the topmost generals to the lowest of footsolders, cannot reasonably or credibly maintain that they did not know this. Participating is thus doubly egregious.

The first sequence could be one long beep being interrupted by the processor having other things to do. "Real" beeps are usually way slower and clearer. Like the last one (the one before the one where you turned it off).
Do you get the same beeps with a warm boot as a cold one?

I don't think calling it a map of Tasmania was original - I've heard it in other contexts including from Les Patterson.
