My main issue with IDEs is that they’re glorified file source code editors. I don’t edit source code files anymore (very much). I write long-form prose about code. I build and execute plans. I review checklists. I merge code from worktrees as agents complete the tasks I've given them. I want an app built around that.

Lately, I’ve been turning my AI coding tools project into a complete IDE. My goal is to create an app I myself would like to “live in” while I do my software development, an environment that is built especially to collaborate with AI in the way that I do. This screenshot is just a mockup. Right now, I’m in the midst of making a design and theme system I can use as the basis of the app. So much fun work ahead.

One other photo of mine made it into the new Pogue/Apple book. These Wallaby devices were essential to our early iPhone software work, since we could hold a device in our hands that felt like the real device would someday, even with its Mac tether, a dim plastic display, and on my first one, just a non-functional dimple where the home button would be!
