It's nice to have to disconnect a little in your ordinary life! I’ve realised that you really do lose something if you live life with noise cancelling headphones on all the time. I picked up the habit to avoid intrusive noise, but it eventually extended to simply avoid ALL noise outside my house.
Tech has become so convenient that it’s a mental battle to not let it blot out the real world. You miss so many things like the sounds of birds or your attentiveness for strangers around you having their own lives.
Maybe this is a problem that’s localised to younger people of approximately my age, I am interested to hear about other experiences. Most people I know in the 18-25 range have similar experiences with respect to perpetual AirPod living.
