@rbmath @kwf I vaguely recall once seeing a public chess board that was mounted atop a spinner, so that it could always be oriented properly for the players.

@rbmath @kwf I think his point is that the chessboard is rotated 90 degrees, making it unplayable from the two seats shown on the left and right.
Standard chess layout requires each player's nearest right-most corner to be a white square.
