About a month ago one of our admins had the opportunity to meet one of Fosstodon's admins at an (unrelated) conference. They shook hands, and were able to talk through some of the issues and concerns that we had about fosstodon.org's moderation.

While many issues and past misinterpretations were able to be cleared up during this brief talk, it also highlighted another important aspect; establishing and keeping contact.

While not everything can be solved with a good handshake and a quick talk, it *does* help that we now have a direct line of contact, so that if any issues arise in the future, we can discuss them.

We concluded that their moderation team has sufficient awareness of the issues surrounding our community. And, if any issues still occur, we have a direct line to resolve them, and potentially explain some of the sensitivities or blind spots that we'll be able to spot.

As such, we're lifting fosstodon's limit on this basis.

Bluesky has been facing more and more criticism lately for their handling of US politics. We have been critical of their handling of trans users, and the inability and apparent disinterest in protecting or backing us.

Due to the verification of multiple trolling US government accounts last week, and the heightened scrutiny lately, we have decided to Limit bksy.brid.gy. This is a tool that allows connection between Bluesky accounts and ActivityPub based fediverse accounts.

You can still find, follow, and interact with Bluesky accounts that are using this tool. A Limit means that while on our instance, you won't be unexpectedly shown these accounts without explicitly choosing to opt-in.

We are aware that Bridgy itself is not the locus of harm, nor is it the only way that accounts could be connected between both services. The decision has been made with our members safety and comfort in mind, as it is the most visible and well-known of these bridges.

We had about half of these suspended on tech.lgbt already, but there were an alarming number of newly discovered instances, warranting a notice.
