a reminder that evil is not a symptom of mental illness, you're just tryin to find a way of othering a behaviour that you could fall into yourself if you didn't look into the mirror and say "am I causing harm with this?" but that would be too hard so hey, let's throw others under the bus too with a distinct lack of appreciation of the irony involved
your tl is now safe from my shenanigans for oh, let's say 24 hours or some shit, cause I gotta sort out this body.
Hope you're havin a good one.
Heard that Greg Brown, original guitarist from Cake passed away recently.
He was an interesting guitarist, cause while many guitarists go "right, soak up all the frequencies" he seemed to do the opposite. Occupying only a fraction of the space, but pulling off a hell of a lot within that frequency spectrum.
I read once (can't remember where, it was the mid-90s, some street press I think) where I believe it was Brown himself, saying that the band sounded the way it does cause it meant you could hold a conversation at one of their concerts on account of the volume and tone not being particularly overwhelming.
It's instructive that after the first two records (Brown left in 1998) they had to bring in a whole heap of guitarists to get the job done on the 3rd record.
One of the best things somebody can say about you as a musician, I think, is "I could tell that was you just by hearing it"
And not only can you do that with those first two albums, you can hear his influence even in the records that come *after he left*
That's no small feat.
RIP Greg Brown, 1970-2026.
