So Amazon are now using Persona for ID checks too on buyers - my 18-year-old daughter has just lost a gift voucher because having let her add it to her account, they promptly cancelled an order she placed using the gift balance and are demanding she upload digital ID. Attempts to fix this over the phone have failed and long story short, the money she was given appears to be lost unless she's prepared to hand Persona her details.

@BenCotterill@mastodon.social He did a handful of very funny stand-up shows for ITV in the early 90s - there's a DVD (Dave Allen Live - On Life) that's as rare as hen's teeth with a 90-minute compilation of those shows. It must be my age, but those shows are what I remember him most for!

Mandelson is a glimpse into what has always been a fundamental weakness of too many politicians. At least some used to be able to resist and remembered who they represented, but that seems increasingly rare.
Still, at least it's reassuring for the rich to know the political system still functions primarily in their interests.

@Euan@speedlines.stctp.zone Ooh, good question. For me it has to be The Armageddon Factor and Full Circle, both from the later Tom Baker era and mainly because they were the first two I ever owned. That memory in turn triggers another or scouring my local library for others to devour, including Patrick Troughton’s first adventure with the Cybermen on the Moon. Having never seen the TV versions I can only imagine how much fleshing out they did. Oh, and both An Unearthly Child (my brother’s) and the original Daleks novelisation, which ignored the events of An Unearthly Child by mashing up the original meeting between Ian and Barbara with the Doctor and Susan with going directly to Skaro.

@Iveyline@mastodon.nz I so want to be wrong, just as I've wanted to be wrong for the past 30+ years since I first became of the term 'climate change', around 1989. Ironically it was first flagged publicly by Margaret Thatcher of all people.
