I should know enough trans people, autists, and retrocomp geeks to get useful information out of this question. Tragically, with the current state of web search, this is less a matter of "lazy google"

@patcharcana@furry.engineer sure thing. You summoned me, I think I can respond. ZX Spectrum 48 were the most cloned model, a lot of russian documentation there on paper. Next comes the БК-0010 machines. Were used in school computer classes. Technically it has a PDP-11 instruction set, otherwise it is pretty unique. Yamaha MSX also were used in schools. At the production there are plenty weird PLCs with LED boards. https://habr.com/ru/articles/402929/ Every time I commute on suburban train I hear this thing announcing each stop. It is an ms-dos flashed into ROM. It is more like early PC https://habr.com/ru/companies/timeweb/articles/733688/

Darrell Edward Issa - U.S. representative for California's 48th congressional district. A representative who actually cares about right to repair.

Read here for excerpt from congress hearings.

@srtcd424@mas.to There are wireless mesh networks in RU - Meshtastic and Reticulum. It allows for public chat room and it looks promising. I really appreciate germans who build a Freifunk - the largest public mesh wifi network I know. It looks like a ready solution for the problem I try to solve. The problem is - internet fragmentation - Freifunk can be augmented to bridge the gap. Also it enables privacy tools to function, which is also a valuable thing to everyone.

@omar@mastodon.bsd.cafe mastodon is cool. TCP filtering is not cool. We need to circumvent TCP filtering so more people can achieve mastodon. It is global problem called internet fragmentation. Filtering evolves, and very soon I will be unable to reach outside of my zone, which happens to be RU, and no TCP based proxy will help because there will be no TCP. Your country may implement similar technique at some point in the future. So, before the link goes down, my last message would be: please, accept it as a challenge. I am not able to solve this alone. https://vmst.io/@nikhotmsk/116125295461052201 #freedom #censorship #meshtastic #freifunk #lora

I will probably be unable to post anything on Mastodon very soon. Reason: Russia uses internet filtering based on white lists, it is hard to circumvent and they are evolving. Googling "white lists in Russia" will get you an idea on how it works. Please, help. #censorship #freedom #network #freifunk #meshtastic #lora #diy

I modified the code of Maelstrom (1992) video game. I got a special variant of it so if the player picks up an ACME canister the effects are preserved across deaths. Call me a cheater if you wish.

This variant is more fun to play.

Jack Phillips was the senior wireless operator on the R.M.S. Titanic. He repaired the spark gap transmitter despite the Marconi company protocols. This allows the crew to send distress signals next night.

Marconi longterm polity requires complex on-ship equipment to be repaired at port by a technician. Jack Phillips was acting in defiance, thus saving lives.

There is a common misconception that critical equipment shall be repaired by manufacturer only. Actually, the world would be much better if there were repair manuals and parts for everything.

Mastodon Aliases and Migration 101.

The purpose of the move mechanism is to move followers (not posts) to the new Mastodon server.

You are locking up your old account and set a redirection to a new one.

It does not solve the concern of a Mastodon node go offline unexpectedly. Your old server must be online to confirm the move.

Also, move is irreversible. Think before pushing.

If your old node is announced to go offline permanently, its admin will probably advise you to migrate your followers.

I tell it is a move because old server will dispatch an ActivityPub 'move' method to other servers where your followers are.

@Herne@corteximplant.net thank you for your node.

I think skyjake - the author of lagrange gemini viewer - must add automatic page archiver to save the nodes that go offline.
