@Tipa@gamepad.club It its defense, I have it set to "Quirky" with "Warm" set to "More" so I'm kind of encouraging that behavior. I actually find it kind of amusing to let it have some "personality." For a long while casual ageism really spun me up, but that was from people, not software. Eventually I learned to tune it out. But yeah, it is kind of a crummy thing to say, now that you have me thinking about it!

I know I'm behind enemy lines talking about this, but I created a "life coach" project in Chat GPT to help me get to feeling better. One of the goals is being outside more, & to motivate myself 'coach' gave me a neat idea: to identify 100 species of plants and animals over the course of the year. The idea is giving myself some kind of goal "Going out to find a new bug" rather than "going out to walk pointlessly" I'm kind of excited.

It took us 2.5 months to finally get around to heading to the beach. Parking was tricky (lots of tiny lots) in the off season, and $6/hour. Can't imagine it during summer. We'll be checking other locations for more reliable access, but at least I got my feet in the (cold!) water. This spot was about 30 minutes away so not exactly around the corner. Was glad to see a couple surfers out there, though.

We watched the latest Jurassic Park movie (it's on Netflix now) tonight. I'd heard it was really bad, but c'mon, dinosaurs and dinosaur-adjacent creatures terrorizing people? How bad can that really be? I suppose clicking on it on Netflix and spending $50 to take the family to see it in a theater do set different expectations, but we had fun with it.

It's the same kind of stuff we always do. Gather materials, make tools. Your workbench is in the back of the van. The side opens to set up camp for resting. The engine runs on anything organic I guess. You pick up trash and recycle it to earn vouchers to download new blueprints. It's the overall vibe that sets it apart rather than the mechanics.

Over in other places folks are losing their minds over MS promoting the person in charge of the "CoreAI" team to run Xbox. It might be a disaster. In fact I feel like there's a good chance it'll be a disaster. But remember AI means more than GENERATIVE AI. Nividia uses AI in DLSS, Sony uses it in PSSR. With Moore's Law fading into the past, AI can squeeze more frames out of current hardware. So MAYBE that's the kind of AI she'll be bringing to Xbox. I'll at least give her a chance.

My Time At Sandrock is interfering with Steam Next Fest. It has now been 10 days of "This next quest HAS to be the end" in this silly game. He caught the bandits! We saved the town from drought! But are we done? NO. Now we're have to... build an amusement park? OK well, let's do that. It HAS to be the end but... No! Now we need to plant another forest. I was going to try a demo last night but only lasted a few minutes. Why? The animation style. It was one of those games with 2D characters that constantly stretch and compress as their idle animation.

@scopique@gamepad.club Part of the issue is that I earned the platinum trophy like 8 days ago at this point, which made my brain go "OK, we must be at the end." All the big plotlines wrapped up but then... they found OTHER problems in the town that we need to solve!

I played Sandrock all afternoon and it STILL WON'T END. 125 hours or so... I like the game but, y'know, too much of a good thing. I just want to see "The End" and then I'll have my life back. LOL

When "Man On The Inside" (Ted Danson as a retired professor who goes undercover as a spy in a Elderly Care Home) came out a while back lots of people were talking about it (generally fondly) but S2 dropped without making much of a splash. We're finally watching it and IMO the quality has stayed right up there. We only have 2 episodes left and we just started it this week. Anyway if like us, you enjoyed S1 and kind of forgot about it, it's worth watching S2!

I find it really weird when you cancel an annual subscription like 11 months ahead of time (I always do it so I don't forget about the service and have it renew on me) and they immediately start sending emails about all the features I'm missing and why I should come back.
