A massive asteroid is visible, predictable to a degree and has a timeline but climate collapse is sudden, unpredictable and invisible until it's not and only in small pockets. All about how much you can ignore it and consider it someone else's problem until it's impossible to do so, pretty reflective of our leadership's tendency towards short-termism.
