Boosted this earlier but I'm going to repost for good measure. Kids have been being taught to read wrong for years based on debunked theories that taught them to skip over words, guess at what's written or rely on pictures instead of actually reading the words. Incredible that anyone ever thought this was a good idea, and in parts of the US it's still being taught.
