@Amorpheus @codebyjeff If you want a somewhat Christian-catholic answer. A prophet not necessarily predicts the future, but claims to be connected with God or speak for it.
Jesus, speaking of false prophets, says that to recognise them, you have to see "the fruit they bear". A false prophet will never bear good fruit, a true one will always bear good fruit.
Depending on the interpretation, a true prophet can simply mean to be a good decent person, that never actually claims to be a prophet.
