@the_wub @mhoye @thesquirrelfish Hey thanks for controlling the conversation. Trying to stop talking about age verification as a solution - glad we can extend it to the EU and be forced into that debate.
Prohibition was successful in stopping a real problem America had with alcoholism. It was a response to a problem. Despite no one here advocating prohibition, Facebook isn't alcohol and so forth, the narrow look is really weird. Prohibition didn't come about because people were just trying to control society. Facebook is harmful, people are dead - it's really gross that we have to only discuss one solution and we also work really hard to protect their right to make money on our misery.
So tired of repeating this. Facebook isn't society. We don't have a right to it. Look at the word of the year last year: Rage bait. Even now, you're post is to get attention on your other posts - this is pathological, not a utility.
Instead of thinking about prohibition, think of smoking. We have an equal amount of evidence of harm - your choice is to do nothing, keep smoking?
