@ticho @lritter Yeah, interesting. I see a lot more specific parallels and references to US cultural history I'm familiar with. There are also interviews with the showrunner about Firefly, where he talks about wanting to capture the mentality of confederate veterans who had to cope with life after losing. I struggle to find an angle where Firefly doesn't have at least some "lost cause" romanticism in its text.
