@anna It's not that the projects have crumbled, but rather that their adoption negatively affects others. I have seem devs frustrated at dependencies like ImageMagick taking a pro-AI stance for example, or the chardet drama (trying to use LLMs to change the license), or the OSI. I haven't seen projects dropped or anything, but it feels like erosion of trust and fractured communities. I don't doubt some projects embracing AI might have seem contributors quit or adoption drop, but I haven't seem it myself (the few people I follow aren't that close to it).
