just realized another reason why this kind of slopgen hurts: it arrives at the end of a decade-ish period when we saw dramatic advances in (non-LLM) tech that legitimately enabled us to build a _correct_ understanding of code so much faster than before: godbolt.org; LSP mouse-hover & navigation; tree-sitter...

we have an embarrassment of riches that coders in the 1980's would have killed for.
and now people want to just... spew code that did not & will not proceed from any understanding at all.
