Well the developers, like all techbros, have been sweetening up Discord to what it is. Once they find a pretty buyer, they'll sell it for top dollar. That's the real completion cycle of enshittification. Some private firm will have it or someone like Microsoft may have it and do to it like they've done with Skype.

It's been enshittifying for a while now.
Who the hell would pay $12 for some fancy profile template? Who'd pay $6 just for an animated thing that revolves around your profile picture? Half of that garbage obstructs your profile.
Not even subscribing to their $10 Nitro deal is worth it. Wow, you get to have a poor selection of ways to display your name. Maybe if a server you really love to be in was active and could take advantage of some of the things advertised, probably might be worth it. But a lot of the time, I'm in servers that don't so I don't see a point.

It has had its memories. But, whenever I'm asked if I had any fond memories from my childhood, I leap to teenager years and high school. Because they were infinitely better.
My middle school years was filled with tons of humiliation, tons of setbacks, tons of embarrassing moments and nothing about it I've ever looked back on and was proud about. I was so hateful of my middle school years, I shredded all of my report cards. Not that they'd mean anything, but they reflected upon things about myself then and where everything was at the time. Sure I was a kid who did kid things, but I wasn't considered a normal kid and I didn't get to live a normal kid life.

Yup. They have an AI Art Generator called 'Dream Up' and it does exactly what you think it does.
So you can just make an account now, not caring about actually drawing or rendering anything, but you can just generate art. It's crazy.

They've committed themselves to AI art, that's how dead it is.
I remembered fond memories predating that period though. The chat room community was at once, very large. The chats still in fact exist, though, they've really tucked them away in a corner. Still have friends from there, still have seen so much talent come through there.
But you won't ever tell anymore what AI is and what AI isn't, because they've welcomed AI with open arms for a while. DeviantArt has truly backstabbed so many artists, without a care.
Oh and their logo is stupid as shit, looks more like an X than DA.

If anyone ever tried doing that to me, I would just ruin their video. I would be like "hey yeah, this guy is actually a pedophile" or something then just ruin it. I will not be someone's object to make money from in that sense. Not unless I'm getting paid.
I would rather be doing a job I don't like because I know I'm not going to fall in love with it enough to make it my life, than to turn something I've fallen in love in doing and making it a job I'll eventually grow to hate because it is seen as a job.

Windows 11 a newcomer?
Dude it's already like 5-ish years old.
Also, I'm going to be very technical here and I don't care if people hate it. But Windows 10 and 11 both outpaced XP and I believe that once the OS reaches a user login, that still counts as the OS as booted up.
Other than that, yeah it's really a no-brainer why Windows 11 lost in just about every category except the boot sequence, save being behind 8.1

There had been a couple times where I'd be shopping and Wal-Mart's alert system at the door couldn't catch the smaller items. Like, they're honest mistakes too, not intentional. I would make it out to my vehicle, getting the bags in, until I find one object that went by undetected. Thought about just playing it as a mistake and not paying for it.
Problem was, even if I did that, eventually I'd be confronted about it. I work for the company, they know me, they sure as hell probably seen me on camera throwing in that small object at somepoint and will use that. Just because the guy at the booth by the doors isn't saying or doing anything or the store isn't getting a hunch, doesn't mean they aren't thinking it.
Anytime this has happened though, I have walked back in and paid for that thing. But sometimes even when I know I scanned everything and paid for them, faulty alarms go off anyways so it's like they're bipolar.

People are already manipulating historical figures in what they say, to make them aligned with whatever ideals and beliefs one has politically in modern times.
Once AI generation is advanced enough to actually manipulate video from historical periods, people are going to do that too. They'll probably try making Hitler seem friendlier.
Whatever baffling bullshit scheme people have.

If you're looking for support, that's breaking Rule 3.
And no, it's not for "no reason"
This is not Reddit. This is not AITA which Reddit used to be plagued by and people over there treated every subreddit as. This question offers nothing open-ended. This user is just looking for validation and therefore breaks Rule 3.
Cry me a river. Rules exist for a reason. Learn to read or shove off.

Not really. I like fireworks. The only problem is, people firing them off in places where they would otherwise get penalized for. Like we're not allowed to have fireworks/sparklers of any kind on the apartment premises. Yet that didn't seem to stop a few idiots who fire them off thinking they're living in homes and the cars that could get hit or be set on fire should things go wrong, exist.

Teeth has got to be one of the most disrespected and undervalued parts of your body. Your body's other bones can heal but then it's like "fuck your teeth, I'm not doing shit about them". And then we got health insurance companies who have the gall to not consider teeth an important part of your body that should be covered, got to get it separately and the costs are fundamental.
I mean, you smile with these things and they are key responsible for how you digest food, by chewing on it before swallowing. You can't just swallow whole pieces of food without risk of choking on them at somepoint.
You can pretty much die from bad teeth, like rot and cavities. It is just a matter of when.

I don't bother asking them anything.
I'm immediately berating them because I know that they've chosen to do this, nobody has put a gun to their head and forced them to do this. They all could collectively stop at anytime and overrun their bosses, they just don't. So right out of the gate, I'm calling them out for what I know they are. I haven't gotten a lot of scam calls in quite a while, come to think of it.

Hold on, yes we do want every community to exist on lemmy and the fediverse.
If all that people see are memes, technology, games, asking questions, politics and news all of the time that's available. They won't help grow the fediverse. The purpose of the fediverse is to offer people platforms to get them off the shit-world that centralized social media has become.
So if we have nothing else to offer them but those things, of course the fediverse won't grow.

If you're on your own, you must know a level of self-repair and maintenance. Especially if you somehow become a home-owner, you're going to need to know some things or you're going to be spending an lot on specialists who could overcharge you.
You have to have some passions, everyone does. If you know what they are and wish to excel or make careers out of them, then go try college to do so.

I've made a playlist of an old show I used to have listened to when they've made new episodes. They haven't made new episodes since 2012 to record.
Compiling a playlist, I've found that with every season they made combined, is a total of 8 days worth of recorded material. But I've listened to the show so much, it is white noise to me and sometimes I do catch something I haven't heard before. It's interesting.
I wanted to get into baking more a time ago, but my apartment management has RUB charges and my oven is operated by gas. so, it's hard for me to know how much I'm paying when I'm not only paying for my usage, but I'm paying for the usage of others in the building because of the RUB system. I hate it so I haven't used my oven in two and a half years straight.

What do you do to cope?
Whether it's going back to work after a long period of time off. Knowing the world or your country has gone to shit. Feeling like your life is stagnant. We all need to cope some to get it through and make it another day.
I personally eat, it's not a good way to cope since it can lead to health issues but it sometimes helps.
I also sometimes re-watch or re-listen to things over and over. Of things that make me feel a little comfortable to watch and listen to again. YouTube videos I hadn't watched in a while, songs I haven't listened to forever or maybe go another few rounds of listening to an old podcast long out of syndication.

I suppose that all wouldn’t be so bad if the “Christmas season” didn’t stretch out for so long. It’s now well underway before Thanksgiving, and I’m being conservative with that. That means at least 10% of the year - so 10% of my life, too - is spent under the Christmas regime.
Oh it's gotten worse. Where I work, like at mid-October right when Halloween is around, we already sectioned off an entire part of the store for christmas stuff. So it's no longer not even before Thanksgiving, it's before Halloween now.

Because it is all manufactured now.
When you were a kid, you were excited the moment you sniffed that November air as the seasons were starting to transition. That unexplainable feeling to know that soon, Christmas was coming. And you were waiting and waiting for it to come. December rolls around, every week, you got excited, you saw people put up their decorations and saw them. You saw all of the planned christmas specials. Your school had christmas themes, you anticipated snow days and more.
It felt festive and great.
Now you've grown up and eventually that magic is gone. If you work retail, you will hate this time of year or any job that doesn't give you the holidays off. People are fighting with eachother about whose family is coming to see whom, familial drama. You wonder what the point is having so many decorations on someone's house is, worrying about what electric bill they'd have lighting all of that up. You fret every day as to what you get your loved ones, whether they'd even like it or not. You may be too broke to get something. Random shit happens to you, you hate driving on snow and the ice.
All the while everything feels forced, the music is repetitive, the specials are repetitive, capitalism is telling you what to do with your time and your money. All of that magical feeling is just...gone.
