Apparently it's my 3 year #Fediversary. I joined mastodonapp.uk on 8th November 2022 although I vaguely recall signing up experimentally somewhere else in 2020 or 2021 but I can't remember where and I didn't stick around.

Stop the Chat Control – Protect our Civil Rights!

The European Commission proposes a new surveillance tool supposed to help in the fight against child abuse depictions and grooming online: the so called Chat Control. Under this proposal, all messages, photos and videos that you send via messenger services such as WhatsApp, Telegram or Signal, would be scanned for that kind of content, even bypassing encryption. All civilians would be placed under general suspicion and monitored. The risk of misuse by the authorities is enormous.
