One of the worst things about being in tech is how blurred the line is between working with it because you love it, and working with it because you want a job with it.

I mainly pivoted away from software engineering or computer science as my major back to IT because I didn’t want to sign away all my rights to distributing code to a single corporation.
Of course, now a lot of computers miles away from me can write mediocre code. And I guess I have that. But my future will probably having to mop parts of that up and explain why I can’t give root access over and over.
