The font scaling of @libreoffice@fosstodon.org on a high-res screen running under Fedora 39 (KDE spin) really is a bad joke 😞

@richardpascoe@mastodon.social Are you really happy with LibreOffice? I *want* to use it as well, but found it to be *extremely* buggy, esp. in the area of the UI for creating animations in presentations.

It's so saddening when there are technically interesting #OpenSource projects that you take the time to #contribute to, but then are bounced by harsh maintainers with irrationale reasonings.

As a #Kotlin fan, I'm currently quite frustrated about the state of desktop apps. The JavaFX ecosystem is actually quite nice still, I really don't want to deal with FXML, but both https://github.com/edvin/tornadofx and https://github.com/edvin/tornadofx2 are pretty much dead. On the other hand, #Compose for Desktop is just not there yet. There's not even a registry of composables (with screenshots) to choose from. Also reading through @frankel@mastodon.top's https://blog.frankel.ch/state-jvm-desktop-frameworks/1/ did not really help to make a choice 🤔

#Kotlin 1.8 was released, see https://kotlinlang.org/docs/whatsnew18.html, grab it while it's hot! I've already upgraded @ort@fosstodon.org (https://github.com/oss-review-toolkit/ort) to it, and it went smoothly 🙂
