Remember when Notepad was just… Notepad? A simple text editor nobody asked to be modernized? Yeah, Microsoft didn’t care either. They bolted on Markdown support and AI features anyway. And now we’ve got CVE-2026-20841. Remote code execution. Via a text file. This is the kind of thing that makes you go “oh come on, really?”

The latest selloff was triggered by a new legal tool from Anthropic’s Claude large language model (LLM). The tool – a plug-in for Claude’s agent for tasks across legal, sales, marketing and data analysis – underscored the push by LLMs into the so-called “application layer,” where these firms ‌are increasingly muscling into lucrative enterprise businesses for revenue they need to fund massive investments. If ‌successful, investors worry, it could wreak havoc across a range of industries, from finance to law and coding.

‘Call of Duty’ players are voicing their distress after stumbling upon specific correspondence in the recently released Epstein Files. Despite the convicted sex offender having no direct public ties to the gaming industry, and famously being banned from Xbox Live, it appears Jeffrey Epstein may have been a vocal proponent of introducing paid content to Activision’s flagship franchise.

The immediate catalyst, it seems, is an intensifying focus on capex, or capital expenditures. Microsoft revealed that its spending surged 66% to $37.5 billion in the latest quarter, even as growth in its Azure cloud business cooled slightly. Even more concerning to analysts, however, was a new disclosure that approximately 45% of the company’s $625 billion in remaining performance obligations (RPO)—a key measure of future cloud contracts—is tied directly to OpenAI, the company revealed after reporting earnings Wednesday afternoon. (Microsoft is both a major investor in and a provider of cloud-computing services to OpenAI.)

I Found a Bug That Exposed Private Instagram Posts to Anyone.

In October 2025, I discovered a server-side vulnerability in Instagram that allowed completely unauthenticated access to private account posts. No login required. No follower relationship. Just an HTTP request with the right headers. Meta silently patched it within 48 hours of receiving my report. Then they closed my case as “Not Applicable” — officially maintaining the bug never existed, despite fixing exactly what I reported.

CIRO confirms data breach exposed info on 750,000 Canadian investors

The organization notes that it spent over 9,000 hours investigating the incident and found no evidence that the stolen data has been misused or published on the dark web. However, to help mitigate the risks, CIRO will be providing all affected investors with a free-of-charge two-year credit monitoring and identity theft protection service.

Micron addresses Crucial exit backlash: 'We are trying to help consumers around the world' — company warns that DRAM drought could last until at least 2028

Moore was asked if memory suppliers were inclined towards catering to the AI sector, “leaving consumers behind” as a result. “Well, first I would want to try to help everybody understand that the perception may not be exactly correct, at least from our point of view,” Moore said. He stated that while he would “never want to tell someone what to think or that they’re wrong… our viewpoint is that we are trying to help consumers around the world.” Moore then cited Micron’s sizeable businesses in the client and mobile market. Moore hinted that Micron is still technically serving consumers by supplying LPDDR5 to OEMs like Dell and Asus for inclusion in laptops, amongst other things. While this is technically correct, the news will be of little comfort to the DIY community and enthusiasts facing colossal price increases. While the report claims Micron is in contact with “every single PC brand out there”, the company simply cannot afford to ignore AI demand.

Razer’s AI wearable is a headset with built-in cameras

Razer announced a concept AI wearable at CES that resembles a pair of wireless headphones (or Razer’s Barracuda gaming headsets, to be precise), with two camera lenses built into the ear cups. The current iteration of Project Motoko is powered by an unspecified Qualcomm Snapdragon chip and uses dual first-person-view cameras positioned at eye level to capture objects, text, and anything else around you. There are also multiple microphones for receiving voice commands, dialogue, and environmental audio, and hands-free controls for managing audio settings. Motoko is designed to be compatible with all major AI models, including those from OpenAI, Google Gemini, and Grok. The wearable “interprets and responds instantly, acting as a full-time AI assistant that adapts to schedules, preferences, and habits,” according to Razer, and will be able to understand context “instantly.”

This AI-Powered Drink Machine Slops You Up Some Generative Booze

Listen, CES 2026 is full of AI gadgets, and a lot of them are kind of the same. Some AI gadgets transcribe things; some help you game; some remember your favorite color or whatever. But only one—one—to my knowledge can get you drunk. The R1, which caught my eye at CES 2026, is what a company called Breakreal is billing as an “AI bartender,” which is probably exactly what you think it is. It’s like a Bartesian cocktail machine, but it uses AI to slop up your cocktail with a little AI personalization. With the R1, you can use a companion app to have the device make you a personalized cocktail catered to your mood, or preference of alcohol. You can even tell it to just shut up and make you a good ol’ fashioned old-fashioned.

China's first real gaming GPU is here, and the benchmarks are brutal

This specific GPU is… Kind of a mixed bag. It’s supposed to be built on a 6nm process, and the G100 is, according to Lisuan, the first domestic chip to genuinely rival the NVIDIA RTX 4060 in raw performance, delivering 24 TFLOPS of FP32 compute. It even introduced support for Windows on ARM, a feature even major Western competitors had not fully prioritized.
