After eight months of researching the parts I needed and falling into the rabbit hole of "this part is no longer made and has been replaced by this part which is no longer made which has been replaced by this part which is no longer made...", I went to the hardware store today, bought the thing I thought should work, and fixed the toilet.

$20 and ten minutes (+ 8 months of overthinking). My brain is ridiculous.

The Maggot Muffins have gone back to the shelter, which means I currently only have two foster cats (an entirely reasonable number!) (one with ringworm, and the other recovering from possible FIP, so they will both be here a while).

I'm probably picking up a third (FIP & spicy!) kitten tomorrow, so life will be even more exciting.

I mean... *anything* to give me an excuse to avoid this manuscript, right?

Gnocchi, my lovely foster cat, is still here. We found the perfect home for her... and then it turned out she had ringworm. (Cue gnashing of teeth and wailing by me.)

Her potential adopters are still interested, though it may be another month or two before she's ready, so at least we have that.

In the meantime, turn up the volume and enjoy some snoring.

I'm planning to make this Cauliflower & Spinach curry, and it calls for fresh curry leaves, which aren't a thing you can easily get here in the US. I'm sure I can get them in a specialty shop if I try hard enough, but so far I've been offered bay leaves and kaffir lime leaves. Apparently some people believe any leaf will do...

Nova had to stay behind at the shelter so her spay incision can get fixed tomorrow morning, which means Lucy is here alone. She is crying constantly when I'm not there. It's very sad.

Once again, Lulu is amazing. She moved into the bigger room so she can play and exercise her legs more. I can still see some hind limb weakness/uncoordination when I watch her, but it's so much better than it was last week!

The daily Gnocchi: This is the look of a cat who has moved to the brushing blanket and would like to know why I'm not brushing her! She sat on my lap for a few minutes last night while I was grooming her! I think she'll be fine in a quiet environment where she gets to choose what happens. (Yes, that's the opposite of the shelter environment.) She would probably also be a good candidate for clicker training. She's really smart! #CatsOfMastodon #FosterCat

I am reading a trad-pubbed mystery that keeps talking about this "articulated skeleton" as if that's a normal decomposition process and I am so confused. The only type of articulated skeleton I've ever heard of is where the bones are held together with pins and wires to approximate where they would be in a body. I feel like an actual editor would have flagged this immediately, so maybe there's an alternate use of the word? #AmReading #WTAF #Mystery
