I’d make the same point as everyone else - choose a distro that suits your needs better - but it seems already made several times.

I’ve used Linux both personally and professionally for a long time but I just don’t want to tinker/break my main desktop. I am currently using bazzite, and while it’s not perfect I’ve found it great in the not breaking department. The immutable part takes some getting used to though. The recent drama around it is annoying though.

I’d be cautious with nix, while it’s reproducible you might end up having to put a lot of effort into making it what you want. If you want that experience then by all means, but it may just frustrate you further if you do it on your main machine.

So.. you are familiar with the windows 3rd party programs to use, but not the Linux ones?

That would certainly apply the other way around as well, so is that a barrier to entry to windows too then?

I never understood the argument of "if it's not in the UI you may need to use a command to achieve it and it's scary".

On windows, if it's not in the UI you have to use either a powershell command or update the registry to change it - which are both a very similar experience.

The only difference I actually see in this point is that Linux has a lot more options.

They’re doing their part in UK politics. Tories stole everything they could and drove it all into the ground until everyone got sick and elected labour. Now they’re raising taxes to put money back in and doing everything they can to make sure they’re hated enough that there is no chance they get re-elected. Then, Tories can just walk back in and take all the money coming in from the new taxes again. It’s a beautiful cycle of the general population getting fucked from both sides.
