@thisismissem @hongminhee imo the value of a did document is overstated -- did can be a useful framework for how to interact with identities that *can* be operated on and *can* have keys and *can* link out to other services, but none of those things are actually required and a lot depends on the actual did method to fill in that framework. in the case of did:key, the "key" method is just a thin wrapper around a key (for when that key is the identity). this makes the key valid for *any* purpose.

@hongminhee@hollo.social you can use HTTP 3xx redirects but that's not strictly necessary because you can use DNS A/AAAA/CNAME as well (and have the HTTP server respond to those names in conjunction with TLS SNI)
the idea is that multiple server names can be responded to by the same Fedify software instance. in nginx it's doable with the http.server.server_name directive. https://nginx.org/en/docs/http/server_names.html

does fedify expect to run behind a reverse proxy? if so, it can route requests.

one example i think about in this regard is how the Linked Data Notifications spec is technically a response to the Social Web WG charter, because that's what prompted its existence: https://www.w3.org/TR/ldn/

@evan@cosocial.ca i think you know where i already stand on this, but instead of recursively crawling replies collections it would be better if alice had a collection that alice owned and contained a flat set of whatever alice wanted to be in it.
i think "bob gets to choose" is not inherently problematic insofar as alice never actually established any context. bob's post stands on its own, with any arbitrary audience. if there *was* such a thing as "alice's convo" then it can/should have its own audience.

probably the most succinct definition i can give of fascism is "the fetishization of order". that's what it all is rooted in, after all -- some natural order, or law and order, the discarding of any chaos by maintaining national purity against "degeneracy". in reality, chaos is freedom -- the result of free agents acting freely is highly unpredictable. so stability is enforced at the price of freedom, by maintaining a very strong and rigid state which maintains the nation's greatness and glory.

@Gargron@mastodon.social but like chrome, it uses the blink engine and reinforces google's monoculture over web standards, which is ultimately far more disastrous for everyone than whatever "ai" means for firefox. i would hope @Vivaldi@social.vivaldi.net uses a different web engine or builds their own, if they care about the future of the web.

"free and open" is kind of meaningless to a lot of people and sounds like a platitude even if we personally care about it. the human-centric pitch is going to be more effective than an idealist pitch.
