It took me 2 months to discover my new laptop has a touchscreen. Three pointing devices (screen, trackpoint, touchpad) on one laptop!

With such a great grasp of English grammar, I'm sure Gemini's notes from this Google Meet will be great.

I'm thinking about assembling a kit guitar, i.e. neck is supplied with fingerboard and frets already made, but one must join it to the body, paint/stain the body, fit the hardware, solder things together, perhaps carve the headstock into the shape of a swan, etc. Has anyone done this? Any recommendations for kits?

I'm a sucker for an irregular time signature so I'm delighted that our game's composer has written some great pieces which are mostly in 4/4 but drop a beat every 8 bars or so. Unfortunately Godot doesn't share my enthusiasm and assumes that every clip must have a fixed BPM — OK — and number of beats per bar — uh oh…
I can't even tell it that the piece is in 31/4 (7 bars of 4, 1 bar of 3) because the intro is in straight 4/4!

I periodically need to convert a folder full of audio files to Ogg Vorbis, tweaking the compression settings but not changing much else. But I can't find a good, simple batch-conversion tool for the Year of Linux on the Desktop. Surely there must be one?
(I can Google how to operate oggenc/ffmpeg but I'd rather not have to. Similarly I know how to use Audacity to import & export a file but would prefer not to.)

@alatiera@mastodon.social That's actually why I switched to Fractal.

Launching Signal from Flathub for the first time pops up this (untranslated!) Zenity dialog box full of scary computer words. The best part is that if you copy-paste the command, it fails:
$ flatpak override --env=SIGNAL_PASSWORD_STORE=gnome-libsecret org.signal.Signal
error: Failed to create file “/var/lib/flatpak/overrides/org.signal.Signal.T1YXK3”: Permission denied
In a better world, doing this would be grounds for the app being delisted.

TFW you are the only short-haired person in the house, and also the person who is charged with unblocking the vacuum cleaner head when it becomes too clogged with hair to spin.

Threadbare, the game we've been working on at @EndlessAccess@mastodon.social is now available for Linux on Flathub. It's early days, so please bear that in mind!
(If you install it via desktop mode on your Steam Deck, it looks terrible because it's being downscaled from 1920×1080. I don't recommend that right now. Desktop/laptop only for now!)

I made some “fan art” today at work in celebration of the new @EndlessAccess@mastodon.social brand colour and the game chosen for our next game club. #BluePrince

I'm doing a livestream tomorrow at 16:00 UK time (15:00 UTC), hosted by @cassidy@mastodon.blaede.family, showing ways to playtest Threadbare (the game we're working on at @EndlessAccess@mastodon.social) on a Steam Deck. Come and watch my makeshift setup with a phone camera pointing at the Steam Deck fall to pieces live on air!
