@emmy it's not for no reason, it's for privacy.. it stops advertising itself a few minutes after you leave the settings page. and then once the connection drops, like if your laptop goes to sleep, it can't re-establish it since there's no beacons coming from the phone. if you change the settings on your laptop to attempt a connection even when the ssid isn't advertised (same as with a hidden network), that might fix it (i *think* it can accept connections even once the last one drops, but i might be wrong). but then it's your laptop that becomes easy to track, since it would be constantly looking for that network.
as for it connecting to the other router, that's definitely a bug. normally it's impossible to connect to wi-fi when there's an active hotspot connection, so it doesn't work as a repeater.
