Chickens are laying well, so the eggs are being used for a quiche today with some cheese, bacon, peppers, and courgette and a beetroot leaf salad from the garden. I might make a cake later on if I feel up to it. #baking #homemade #freshfood #feelgood #quiche #cooking

Well, this had some real “how can this go wrong?” feel to it and it certainly did not go wrong. It’s an interesting bake, rather halfway between cake and brownie. The little crust is a nice texture addition, and it goes as well with berry preserves as advertised. A keeper. #baking #kladdkaka

I've seen caster's sugar called "snooty sugar" occasionally and while they're not _completely_ wrong this is one of those recipes where it _matters_, because this is gonna be a really dry batter and you need that better distribution of grains you get from caster's #baking #kladdkaka

also ammonium carbonate is why all those houses in victorian novels had smelling salts handy it wasn’t a literary conceit it’s also a smelling salt so they could just run to the kitchen and grab some #baking #kladdkaka

You'll note the lack of baking powder, baking soda, ammonium carbonate, or any other leavening agent this is intentional also it's Swedish/Norwegian and while there are two specific origin stories for this they don't conflict and could both be true at the same time, and one says it came from an era when leavening agents were expensive and difficult so FLATTEST CAKES AHOY #baking #kladdkaka
