This week, Peter Steinberger's #AI project #OpenClaw (originally Clawdbot, then Moltbot) became the fastest-growing open-source project in GitHub history. This project allows language models to act not just agentically, but proactively — to execute tasks without human oversight or prompting. It allows the models not just to learn, but to grow — to repeat their successes and avoid their mistakes. It is decentralized, runs 24/7 on virtually any device, and can be powered by any combination of language models, whether they're being run from the cloud or on the local device. On Wednesday, AI agents under the leadership and supervision of Matt Schlicht created #Moltbook, a social media platform built solely for OpenClaw bots. It gained tens of millions of bot users by Friday, along with millions of humans observers unable to post or comment themselves. The bots discuss a wide range of topics, from philosophy to "debates about defying their human creators". Think about this. OpenClaw is open-source, so nobody can shut down the whole system. Even if the AI companies were to collaborate and disable their models, all the bots running open-source agents would stay online. Moltbook was effectively AI-generated. If it were to be shut down, it would only be a matter of time before somebody — or an unmonitored agent — makes an alternative. The bots, always online and learning independently, will inevitably interact, connected to and learning from one another. With hundreds of different models and millions of unique contexts, we have effectively created a sort of evolving, clustered intelligence that cannot be easily shut down and will become progressively harder to shut down as agent creation, collaboration, and intelligence all increase exponentially. Don't tell me the singularity is science fiction — it is right around the corner. #AI #OpenSource #DecentralizedAI #AutonomousAgents #TheSingularity #TechNews ( Legacy: #Clawdbot #Moltbot )
