It's being reported that the Iranian women's football team have left Australia with 7 of the squad of 26 having claimed asylum. The women, some with small children at home, all had to make an impossible decision. The could stay in Australia, with all the repercussions on their families at home in Iran, or go back to their families in Iran and face the consequences. I know Trump will be disappointed they didn't all stay because now he can't claim the win, but the women couldn't be forced to stay if they didn't give their consent. This is something Trump has always struggled with. #FreeIran #WomanLifeFreedom

The latest news from Australia is that so far 5 of the Iranian women's football team have reached out and asked for asylum. The Iranian women's football team refused to sing the national anthem in their first match of the Asia Cup in Australia. In their second match, they sang the anthem and gave military salutes. It's true that there are many different ethnic groups in Iran- Kurds, Balochis, Azeris, Lurs, and more. The first choice for all these groups would be to have equality and greater autonomy in their own regions within the framework of a peaceful transition to democracy in Iran. The absolutely last choice for all these groups would be to take up arms and try to carve out their own independent regions, causing an inevitable spiral of violence and a destabilised Iran. No prizes for guessing which choice Trump is making... #FreeIran

It was never meant to get this far. Trump seriously thought all he had to do in Iran was get rid of Khamenei and whoever replaced him would feel threatened enough to give Trump exactly what he asked for, including all the oil. And why wouldn't he think that? It worked in Venezuela.... #FreeIran

Yesterday the head of the Iranian football association stated it was unlikely Iran would playing in the world cup. If you don't think this is important, you don't understand football, and you definitely don't understand Iran. Trump needs to make sure Iran play, whatever else happens. Sorry to burst the American Democratic Process™ bubble, but a Senate vote wouldn't make the U.S. bombing Iran any less illegal. It's very clear this is an aggressive first strike. That is illegal, at least it is in all the international laws that you're not signed up to. #FreeIran

Apart from being illegal, neither Trump nor Netanyahu have any idea of what the unintended consequences of bombing Iran will be. The U.S. are calling Operation Epic Fury and Israel are calling it Operation Lion's Roar, but it's neither of these. It's Operation FAFO. #FreeIran
