There's a lot of great explanation sites about the fediverse and its various communities, and I wanted to take a stab at this myself. https://jointhefediverse.net The site (very much work in progress) is aimed at a more casual audience. Let me know what you think! #fediverse #SocialMedia #OpenWeb #IndieWeb #JoinTheFediverse

This question goes out to #IndieWeb and GeoCities era website lovers: Is there a collection site that allows users to submit and tag blinkies, 88x31, stamps, and so on? I have yet to find one, but the web is large Love the format revival, but it is difficult finding a collection that makes it searchable by tags to quickly find things of interest to throw on one’s site. If one doesn’t exist I suppose I can throw running an image tag DB onto the list of ‘things I will definitely do’

(Ironic I know as i founded one based on the #Indieweb community) Those are as important or more than big general purpose servers. Go #Forkiverse. Power on. May more such communities follow your lead! 🧵 2/2

I have an obnoxious problem with crawlers eating bandwidth on my personal web site—not just the fact that crawlers consume so much bandwidth, but rather a behaviour that is absolutely next-level. And I think it's something that precludes the use of caching, but there are probably many of you with more knowledge than I have and who may know what can be done 🧵⤵️ #IndieWeb #WebDev #PersonalSite

Hi fedi folk - It’s lovely to be here! I just moved from mastodon.social to sunny.garden and think it’s time for an #introduction. I’m Bearina, 30-something from Mannheim, Germany. I make #zines, #ArtistTradingCards and have become a #printmaker recently. I also got back into #photography a few days ago which was my first hobby. I got my first point and shoot camera when I was 12 and fell in love with it before that, using my parents camera and strolling through the neighborhood. I like seeing creativity around me and love to get inspired by other artists. #SciFi is my jam and I love movies in general. And bears! Lovely creatures. #DeGoogling right now! Also I’m working on relaunching my website and make it more #IndieWeb friendly and #accessible but also give it a bit more personality. I want to start a blog and share my thoughts. Which reminds me: Words are hard! I try my best but not always succeed. I’m so excited to meet new people! I toot in German and English. #neuhier

@quillmatiq@mastodon.social We stan the protocol bridge gods ❤️ Anuj, it meant so much to me to meet you last year at FediCon, and I know I've struggled a bit with my own personal jealousy towards ATProto, but I'm reminded of the fact I met Ryan a decade ago in the #IndieWeb IRC channel and was in awe of the dedication they had to freeing everyone from the toxic silos. It's not Bluesky vs Mastodon. It's giving people better Facebook/Instagram/X alternatives We're on the same team. And you + Ryan are my heros❤️

Static websites are the future. Not every site needs to be dynamically generated. Having a #blog served by a complex CMS like WordPress feels unnecessary after using #11ty . Compute is growing in cost and becoming scarce. Why waste it on sites suited for static generation? Plus, who wants to host a server with a database, a CMS, a bunch of plugins and all the security headaches that comes with it? #SSG #IndieWeb #Blogging

Indieweb Social states its "a home for those who build, study, promote - or are just fascinated by - #openweb, #indieweb, #federated & #humanetech practices & tech" I'll add to that. It's also a place for 80s style nerds like @tchambers@indieweb.social #PledgeDrive 13/ to sit in the back of the class and giggle until you stare at them Donate: patreon.com/c/indiewebsocial #PledgeDrive 13/

Looking for someone who is involved in #Indieweb to participate in online event for Backdrop CMS. We'd like you to facilitate a discussion about what the Indieweb is? What's it's up to in 2026? And if there are opportunities for our open source community to be more involved? https://events.backdropcms.org/ We welcome volunteers or referrals! #smallweb

New entry in my #personalblog - Gemini Takes Flight I'm a big fan of Gemini (not the chat bot). I lurk in BBS, I read news on a Guardian mirror, and I check aggregators for new and interesting gemlog entries. Now that I've got both my sites mirrored on there, I thought I'd write a little post about it. #geminiprotocol - gemini://antonyfb.com/blog/gemini-takes-flight.gmi #personalwebsite - https://antonyfb.com/blog/gemini-takes-flight.html #SmallWeb #indieweb
