At least 160,000 people to be removed from NDIS as Labor unveils "unavoidable and urgent" cuts

- as the fossil fuel industry rubs their hands together grinning and awaiting the sweet sweet cash-influx..

"At least 160,000 people are expected to be removed from the National Disability Insurance Scheme by 2030, as the Albanese government looks to claw back savings by changing who can access the scheme.

The health minister, Mark Butler, also announced on Wednesday the $50bn scheme’s growth rate will be brought down to just 2% every year until 2030 in an effort to curb annual plan inflation and produce billions in savings.

The government will dramatically increase the categories of service providers required to register with the federal government, adding more higher risk activities, including personal care, daily living supports, and supports provided in closed settings."

- So while the responsibilities of the care providers are increased, their pay goes down.

"There are about 760,000 people on the scheme at the moment, meaning at least 160,000 will no longer be able to access the NDIS within four years.

“These are hard decisions – but they’re unavoidable and urgent,” Butler said."

- But apparently new gas projects, perks for the fossil fuel industry, paying the DT regime $368b for subs we'll never receive, etc.etc.etc. are 'Easy decisions' for Labor.. Well done Labor, good job, as usual.. 🙄

Palestinian groups launch legal bid to shed light on Australian arms export permits to Israel

"A trio of Palestinian human rights groups have launched a legal bid to force Australia’s defence minister, Richard Marles, to shed light on whether the government has approved Israel-bound export permits, which could violate international law.

The Albanese government has repeatedly denied that Australia has supplied weapons to Israel since 7 October 2023, and downplayed existing permits as “dual-use” – permits for parts or technologies typically used for commercial or civilian use, but “with potential military and weapons of mass destruction application”."

Isaac Herzog held secret meeting with Asio boss during Australia trip, intelligence agency confirms

"The Israeli president, Isaac Herzog, had a secret meeting with Australia’s director general of security, Mike Burgess, during his visit to Australia last month, the Australian Security Intelligence Organisation has confirmed.

Under questioning in the Senate from the ACT independent senator David Pocock on Tuesday, the foreign minister, Penny Wong, said questions about Asio “were often very sensitive”, but refused to confirm the meeting.

Outside parliament, Pocock said he believed it was “unprecedented” for a foreign head of state to be granted access to the domestic intelligence facility."

The 100-year-old East Terrace #Adelaide playground to be ripped up and moved for Malinauskas's MotoGP

"The Glover Playground on the corner of East Terrace and Wakefield Street in Adelaide was opened by the Governor-General Lord Forster and Lord Mayor Charles Glover on September 11, 1925.
