UK/EU has had contactless payments via our bank cards for about 2 decades now. America caught up eventually some years later When phones got the ability to act as our bank cards, it made sense for them to use the same technology that was already deployed

Oh no, don't get me wrong, I work from home just fine. If I'm working from a cafe, restaurant or bar, I'm spending the whole time there distracted Which I guess is indeed a personal issue, so far play

Tbf the kind of cultural fusion cuisine you get when another culture successfully imports another culture's cuisine, is super interesting to me. I'd say this stands separately from intentional fusion restaurants, this is more something that happens organically as a cuisine is adapted to the ingredients and tastes somewhere away from where it is invented. The classic examples are Tex-mex and British curries, but every country has a few things like this. Japanese Italian is a pretty cool experience, not least of all because now I think about it there's some places that are straight up Japanese/Italian cultural fusion, but others are more Japanese/Italian-American, so this thing can go deeper. And don't get me started on the godlike German/Turkish magic happening on the streets of Berlin Always been a fan of trying local cuisine when I've travelled, but I've more recently been trying to add places like the above into the mix, as it's genuinely always been interesting to me

Well yes, technology improvements that mean humans can work less are only a good thing if you have an economic system that actually prioritises general wellbeing over enriching a tiny percentage of the population. Americans are the most fucked because the majority of the public view socialism and adjacent philosophy as being bad, despite really being the only ideologies with any real answers for what happens to people that can’t work for a living, that isn’t just them dying.

The chances of a true philanthropist beating out the psychopaths currently at the top of the chain, is basically nil. They will always fight dirtier. You need to ensure a government can exert power over the largest organisations in its country. If that ever becomes an issue, the organisation might start behaving as a de facto government of its own and start treating the actual government as a vassal. Basically we need to kick corporatist politicians out of our governments before they finish rolling out the red carpet for the end of democracy, and start chopping up and nationalising these proto-megacorps. If only a few control the tools that put us all out of work, we’re not getting anything close to utopia.
