Philadelphia Dance Project's Dance Up Close brings Philly Locals Curt Haworth and Tammy Carrasco to the Christ Church Community Center for an evening of home grown dance and choreography. Who knew Philly had such a vital community of emerging dance!

The Philadelphia Ballet is doing Ronald Hynd's Merry Widow right now, and it is a surprisingly yummy combination of farce, romance, and Franz Lehár's dreamy waltzes.

So much dance in Philadelphia this month! The thing about performing arts is that they bring us together to share a collective experience. With the world around us trying to tear is apart, there is nothing more important than reminding ourselves we are part of a shared humanity--that dances!

Saw Alvin Ailey this weekend. It's a beautiful company, and a bit of a tradition. Their shows are so packed with strength and emotion that I can't help but come of of the theater feeling more hopeful in spite of how terrible the world is.

Just spent the last 2 1/2 hours observing via Zoom my building's board of directors meeting. This meeting should have taken one hour. They do not yell at each other or throw things--which our management company says happens at some buildings--but they quibble and quibble.
I am glad I am just an observer, though.

Got a great interview with choreographer and company founder Kun-Yang Lin—long and wandering, but always coming back to center.
Should transcribe while it is fresh, but it was cold and rainy on the walk home, just turning to snow, and it is warm and cosy inside. So I think I will curl up with a nice book for a while.
