I work on industrial production lines. I've gotten used enough to laptops that I don't mind too much. Work from home on my 34" curved screen + 27" flat is amazing tho.

My partner used to do design on her laptop on the sofa with a graphic tablet. Inconceivable for me .

I have fond memories of my Macbook Pro's touchpad. That was over a decade ago, I still haven't found a comparable experience.

I don't think nowadays windows is subsidized. Sure, some manufacturers may recoup part of, or all the cost by pre installing crap ware, but those that allow choosing your OS usually give you a discount for removing Windows.

Android is frustrating with the way it limits you from doing what you want within the os.

I mean you have to find those check boxes in Windows too. I do think some things in Linux are still not super user friendly, but for example installing apps is much better. Sure something may not be in the repo, even if some distros have impressively vast ones, but even that is easily solved with flatpak and appimage nowadays.

I think they meant that the comparison should be between desktop OSes. The fact that the meme mentions desktop and phone OSes is probably because one is likely to use both.

It’s the difference between entertainment and information. Gamer’s Nexus is less entertaining when they recite statistics number by number, and so they have less viewers, because people prefer poor information but with an entertaining presentation, rather than the opposite. Kinda like Top Gear used to be, they had some valid information but they could bend it if it meant the show would be more entertaining.

So, work and home. Work, therefore Windows: has to be a tie between (new) Outlook and VMWare workstation. New outlook is absolute crap, just like all new windows app, I guess it must be Electron-based as it crashes or fails to load sometimes when you open it without connecting to the internet, and displays a blank window. VMware is such crap with poor performance, hang-ups and their fucking “this VM is already in use, take ownership?” dialogs that never work. Home: I’d say FreeCAD. I mean, I love that they’re developing it, I donated and I hope it’ll have a similar trajectory to Blender, but right now it’s really frustrating to use. Frequent crashes, solving errors, even adding a simple bevel is often a challenge, many simple things require complex procedures that make little sense to new users. It’s crazy how, when you add a feature it can’t solve, your model just disappears, and you have to open up the diagnostic buffer to find out why.
