Kirkmaiden church, the foundations of which are said to be one of the oldest in Scotland. Supposedly founded by St Medan in the 7th C, an Irish Princess, who was magically transported across Luce Bay on a stone boat.

The romantic ruins of Dunskey Castle, perch on cliffs looking over the North Channel to Ireland. Built in the 14th C by the Adairs, the castle was burnt in 1489 by Cutter McCulloch of Myrton and rebuilt in 1510.

I've seen lots of skeins of geese heading off on their migration north lately. One passed low over me when I was walking the dog in the dark earlier this week. You can see where the idea of the Gabble Ratchets came from!
