People seem to think of communism as some sort of highly centralized federal governance like capitalist republics employ.
I tend to think the most important aspect of communism is highly local, participatory governance rather than highly centralized federal governance. I quite like the commune in communism.
The idea of many local, direct democracies that are loosely allied in larger, regional agreements is highly appealing.
I think many people have been brainwashed to believe that all forms of governance involve large nation states with highly centralized top-down federal governance. So many people seem to be incapable of understanding any other type of system.
