@sarahtaber@mastodon.online my only advice is watch it OR read it. The books and show started diverging to the point that I didn't understand the characters' motivation because I was pulling the wrong antecedents.

Is this saying a family of four from China will pay $400 extra or maybe $1200 for their long weekend in Yosemite? Because the former may not deter many but the latter would.

@cstross@wandering.shop I've pushed back on half a dozen people over my life who've wanted me to write because I can turn a phrase. I've told them I lack the organization and stamina. I can't just agglomerate clever sentences and impactful paragraphs. How do the characters sound different when expressing the same emotion? How do they change? I can't write happy characters when I'm having a bad day and vice versa. It's a lot.

@cstross@wandering.shop my take on all the circle-jerk money pump memes around Oracle-Nvidia-OpenAI-MSFT etc is that they're not majority individual investor stonks and that pension/fund managers don't read a headline and immediately click BUY. So those crazy number deals aren't going to be as bubblicilous as they first appear....I hope.
