I grew up here in Florida without air conditioning until I was about 25.
Really just learned to be still, that helps. Keep the windows open at night if it cools off at night.
Stay in the shade, if there is a breeze it is not bad. Carry a parasol if possible . Shade helps so much.
And I wait for the rainy season, ours is at the same time of year yours is. Love that time, every day it gets hot but then in the afternoon the rain comes.

I wouldn't give mine away, and enjoyed parenting more than any other job, but swear to God with every one of them I said that a parent should be provided with about 5 tranquilizer darts for each child when they are born, for the handful of situations that put you in danger of doing something you will regret. With each one, for me there were about 5 times I wished I could just toss a dart and pow! Kid falls down asleep.

Are you a lady? I work in an office at a sports company (so sporty casual is common) and there are several women here who wear dresses and skirts not pants, several more who switch back & forth. Not me - pants feel much more secure to me - but it’s nothing anyone really notices.
A man wearing skirts we would notice for awhile, not care but notice; if you are customer facing then you might encounter that surprise over and over, if not, I don’t think it will be a big deal.

I work in participation sports, and agree with OP. I’ve seen people running in a long distance triathlon (which means they’ve already swum and biked a long distance) who, if I saw them in a different context, I’d not have thought them fit. Usually women, not men. Fat and cardiovascularly fit >skinny and idle. And I’ve seen really strong fat guys, maybe that’s not as perfect as lean & strong but is it worse than thin and weak?
It’s not the usual arrangement (fit and fat) but skinny and unfit is pretty common.
I don’t make fitness assumptions anymore, about people within some range, obviously there is a point where this isn’t true. I haven’t ever been fat and do not think I’d be one of those people (if I am in shape it shows in my visual shape) but plump fit people do exist.

I fly a pirate flag here for Gasparilla, then usually nothing. We don’t have a whole flagpole though.
My kids put a rainbow flag in the window.
American flags on flagpoles left up all night just crack me up. Dudes wanting to proclaim they are so patriotic but then not following the etiquette requirements for that piece of fabric they put so much emphasis on. At school there were routines we had to follow, to put it up each morning and take it down each evening and fold some particular way.
If I had an actual flagpole - I’d make it a Maypole in spring. At Christmas make it a Christmas tree made of string lights. At Halloween put a skeleton stripper on it. At Gasparilla the pirate flag and in the summer use it to help anchor a shade cloth stretching to the house. I don’t think I’d usually use it for a flag.

I like those big cabinets in place of kitchen cabinets. Glass front makes everything look better, I don’t put curios in them. Plates, glasses, bottles, booze, whatever goes in them ends up looking good.

The insect apocalypse is by far the most ominous sign in my lifetime, but if I never again see a mating swarm of palmetto bugs, a cloud of them flying, it will be too soon.
Once we were at a Mexican restaurant and in the booth behind us were some students from somewhere else. They were talking about the palmetto bugs and one said, well at least they don’t fly. And I turned around and said, “oh no, I regret I have some very bad news for you.”
Those fuckers don’t even run or fly away, they come AT you. My mom said they like to try to squeeze into small spaces, don’t like being out in the open and see you as a safe place not a threat. I have a fear of them that is way beyond reason.

My feet are narrow so I do this sometimes, to get a better fit in width, so they ‘stick’ and don’t just slide out the front. If your feet are wide don’t do it. And yes there is more tolerance in sandals.

Mine fought like banshees when they were young but are so close and friendly as adults. I didn’t do anything to make any of it happen as far as I can tell. I never understood why they fought so much, and they are so funny and love each other so much now.

I don’t disagree, it needs a different name, has not much to do with feet, but really? A trophy is enough of a bribe for him to upset his base of NFL fans? Can someone bribe him to get us on Metric system?
