If something fails in weird ways later, then there will be finger pointing back and forth between various teams and it will basically end up being the equivalent of a magic 8-ball when it comes to decide which team or individual takes the blame for it anyway.

Coupled with the fact that the mandate has come down on high in many companies that performance metrics are now being tied to AI usage. (Likely at the recommendation of some useless consultant from McKinsey, Accenture, or a similar outfit.)
Easy to not give a shit about the quality of your code when your performance metrics are tied to the bulk number of lines committed.

Like it or not, the industry as a whole is full of people who are:
- Only in it for the paycheck.
- Third rate contractors.
- Clueless managers on ego trips.
There are plenty of “devs” who don’t understand any CS fundamentals and before Claude just copied code they didn’t understand from StackExchange.
And many managers don’t care if the code shipped is good, or efficient. Passing basic unit tests is what counts as QA in many orgs.
If it passes unit tests it gets merged and shipped.
