Die eine ist hier inzwischen 12 Jahre im Einsatz und bis auf einen Defekt durch Kontakt mit Flüssigkeit wartungsfrei (auch ungereinigt, obwohl sie das mal brauchen könnte). Ich war bisher immer fester Kunde von BAUM / VisioBraille, die Zeilen haben mich immer super abgeholt, ich bin allerdings dieses Jahr auf der SightCity und will mich mal informieren.

I expected the NVIDIA DGX Spark to be a server-like machine, just connect it to your LAN network and connect via SSH. Turns out, even with a working LAN connection in place, it requires you to connect to its WiFi hotspot for the first-time setup and during the setup process it asks you to connect to your local WiFi. Man i've got a good reason to plug you in you know... I'll have to find out how to make it speak wire now. Great.

Oh no, my timeline was full of empty items, so I had to delete 300 Megabytes of database holding roughly 150K toots from the last few years, what am I going to do now...
Well, it doesn't hurt me, but backwards compatibility isn't quite what I'd call this behaviour.

@Regez Meine Partnerin hat für die LBM letztes Jahr Visitenkarten selbst gedruckt auf vorgefertigten Visitenkarten-Papierbögen und danach auf Dymoband mit meiner Hilfe Braille geschrieben und aufgeklebt. Die Herstellung war nur immens aufwendig (eine Visitenkarte umgerechnet etwa 3 Minuten Handarbeit). Das Ergebnis war cool, für viele Visitenkarten ist der Aufwand leider etwas zu groß.

@n_to Wenn ich mit Kunden spreche, die genau wissen, wer ich bin und woher ich komme, mag das stimmen. Wenn ich auf Messen unterwegs bin und da mit zig Ausstellern und die Aussteller widerum mit hunderten Besuchern zutun haben wissen die nicht automatisch, wer wer ist. Zudem entfällt dank meiner Blindheit die Möglichkeit, bspw. Fotos von Ständen oder Namensschildern o.Ä. zu machen. Also ja, in solchen Fällen können Visitenkarten durchaus noch sinnvoll sein.

Ich hatte die folgenden 20 Minuten das Gefühl, entweder wegen meinem Rücken nicht sitzen oder stehen, wegen meinem Gleichgewichtssinn aber nicht liegen zu können, ohne mich grundlos zu übergeben. Nach einer Weile und einer sehr hilfreichen Massage durch meine Partnerin hatte sich schließlich mein Rücken beruhigen lassen und mein Gleichgewicht gerichtet. Gegen 05:30 Uhr war also endlich Schlafen angesagt. Mein Rücken war heute immer noch angepisst, wenn auch nicht mehr so schlimm.

Grund dafür war... naja, die Abwesenheit von Problemen, ich dachte ja, das Problem wäre erstmal gelöst. Und Telefonangst.
Nunja, die Schmerzen sind seit ein paar Wochen zurück, und gestern waren sie so nervitg, dass ich den Vorschlag meiner Partnerin annahm und meinen Kopf überstreckt und mich kopfüber von der Couch habe hängen lassen, um meinen Rücken zu dehnen. Mein Gleichgewichtssinn hat das gar nicht gut verkraftet.

Zum Abschied teilte man mir mit, ich könne ohne weiteres Rezept ganz einfach weitere Anwendungen bekommen, ich müsse es nur an der Rezeption erbitten. Ich... habe dies nicht getan. Ich dachte ja, mein Problem wäre jetzt gelöst. Angesprochen hatte ich bei meinem Arzt ein paar Wochen später dennoch, dass es sinnvoll wäre, selbst Übungen zu erarbeiten, um dem Problem dauerhaft begegnen zu können. Ich bekam einen Überweiser, diesen habe ich bisher nicht eingelöst. Seit letzten Juli.

Seit 2024 habe ich immer vermehrt mit Rückenproblemen zu kämpfen. Das war absehbar, ich sitze immerhin quasi den ganzen Tag seit meiner Jugend, und Sport mache ich seit meinem Abitur auch nicht mehr aktiv. Die Rückenprobleme äußern sich zumeist in konstanten Schmerzen unter den Rippen (Blockade der oberen Rückenwirbelsäule). Letztes Jahr hatte ich dazu 8 Anwendungen manuelle Therapie, die mich für über 6 Monate haben sorgenfrei leben lassen.

It's always great to have tech that is built to be repaired. Lewitt themselves provides great support and replacement parts in case your cage breaks or something. And it's always nice to see how specific parts of tech look like from very close, as in, internally :D.

I'm always kinda worried when fixing broken tech myself. I'm usually quite skilled with such things (apart from losing screws regularly by accident), but I'm afraid of breaking even more than what is already broken. I thus was quite reluctant to fix my Lewitt LCT 440 Pure which fell down once last year. It still works just fine, but moving it made something rattle inside the mic cage. I just opened it up myself and removed the tiny broken metal piece. Its almost as good as before. Love it!

Seems like my life will have to continue without any grand parents now. My youngest grandmother passed away over 20 years ago after a stroke in public transport, my oldest grandfather left us about 12:30 PM this day. And all of them went way to early. You'll all be missed deeply.

You know, even if you have a fallback internet connection in the form of a 5G router that is very well capable of lifting all the data processing via mobile if necessary, all things fall apart if the main router ends up in some kind of weird loophole where it'd switch to the fallback connection once every... few hours and then return to the main connection, which might or might not have failed, I don't know, because when I returned a week later and rebooted everything worked just fine.

I don't know who needs to read this, but apparently there is a pretty widely used DNS blocklist for PiHole (or in my case Technitium) that currently seems to block google.com and github.com, and probably some other sites too, for... I don't know which reason. I just thought my DNS broke, but no, the filter is just going crazy right now. Just so you know in case you're running into the same issue as soon as your AdBlock updates its lists.

A thing that I just thought about whilst listening to the full cast version of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix: remember the scene in which Hermione confronts Professor Umbridge, stating that she disagrees with the oppinion of the author of the book they're reading? I cannot remember any lesson from my school time where I said something like "but I disagree with what we're reading here, because..." and breaking out into a fruitful discussion. That is sad, I think.

The Adventures of Elliot might be the first game that makes the Nintendo Switch 2 interesting to me. Our pile of games however is so tall that we'll manage just fine without, and as soon as we're done with those games, the game will have released on Steam anway. So well... there is time to wait.
