Also if you move to another instance after a year you don't actually need to leave your old account live. I promise your old posts are not that precious and they're probably cached on 100 other instances anyway if you really want to keep them.

I do think there's something to trying a lot of different instance software to see which one fits you best but I do think that "you can run your own instance" doesn't necessarily need to mean "you move to another software every single month and have 7000 dead accounts littering the fediverse"

Got the new labyrinth zone server up and running at nulled. (well I need to finish the debian install after work but the machine is accessible now) so at some point in the next few days we're going to go into maintenance so I can get everything moved over. might be a longer maintenance since we need to update through two versions of akkoma and from debian 12 to debian 13

@mjdxp i can't stand software filters either tbh I think most of them look really awful. Pixel sharpness on an LCD is fine, because otherwise you have that mushy natural upscaling the tv does by itself, but if a game was designed with crt pixel blending in mind you know I'm gonna play that on my crt lmao

@mjdxp i had an acorn pc running risc os when I was a kid and it was so good I really miss it and I wish risc os had ended up being a bigger thing. I used to play the crystal maze and lemmings on that thing sooo much. I think the british computing industry is interesting and I wish that it existed outside of raspberry pi now. Maybe it does and I haven't been paying attention

@mjdxp whenever someone posts modern footage of a game that was intended to be viewed on a CRT and talks about the graphics I honestly just cringe. There's youtubers out there who show captured footage from an emulator running at 4k for like a ps2 game with a wide-screen patch where half the UI is stretched to fuck because it was never intended for 16:9 it kinda drives me crazy lmao

@mjdxp when I worked in a game shop back in the UK I had some coworkers who were younger than me and you could tell who got their opinions from youtube and Americans on the internet. People talking about how the snes was so good and successful (mega drive outsold it WILDLY in the uk) and saying "oh but chrono trigger", "oh but earthbound" like man those games didn't even release in this region?? Not saying the snes is bad and I'm very glad these titles are widely available to play now but when you talk about the history of consoles and games it has been so poisoned by American gamers on YouTube talking on the topic in an insular way it's frustrating lol

@mjdxp he just has annoying zoomer opinions that ignore the contemporary time that consoles and games are released in when it comes to older games (and is also so so nintendo biased lmao) and also ignores a lot of the overseas history of things and then people watch the videos and start saying the exact same things as he said without actually reading any further into it. I like his main channel but the second channel is kinda like, hearing his dumb opinions just slightly too much as to be annoying

"The virtual boy isn't as bad as everyone says it is" man shut up what the hell are you talking about lmao his main point is that the games are generally fun but like if you can't play them without getting a migraine from the goggles then the console sucks

i have used startisback++ for a long time and i really like it but one of the best things about it is that i can replace the start menu with the win7 one and the taskbar button designs with the nice windows 8 ones imo
also i do not naturally have this all set to baby shit colours it is just inheriting my ugly bing wallpaper of the day colours rn

Happy international women's day. As an international woman you can help me out by sending me your hard earned cash in exchange for a warm fuzzy feeling knowing you helped out an international woman on the designated day for international women.
